I did a search, but came up with nothing. Is there any hip people on here who get down with Amy Lee? I know theres gotta be. Did you know Evanescence is in the studio right now recording their third album. Amy Lee says it has a lot of Electronic influences, like from Bjork, Portishead, Depeche Mode, La Roux... they spent two weeks recording nothing but drums, with help from Questlove of the Roots. I gotta say, way to go Amy! This album is going to be rythmically driven and tripped out. Fuck yeah! They even added a new band member, the producer Will Hunt who will be called Will "Science" Hunt. He is incharge of the electric programming and beats

    I can't stand this band.

The first album was a mishmash of Fat McWhiteRapper trying to sound "hardcore" or whatever and Amy Lee screeching out absolutely godawful ballads. The whole thing smacked of "HEY FAT GOTH KIDS AT HOT TOPIC! HEY LOOK! THIS APPEALS TO YOU!".

The second album was considerably better from a mechanical and musical standpoint; which of course led to their popularity suffering. Still, hopefully they hold truer to this sound instead of just trying to sound like a lame Nightwish knockoff.

I understand your point. I never listen to the first album anymore. But I do think The Open Door is a beautiful album which speaks so many volumes. Amy Lee is a beautiful lyricist and pianist. Her vocals give me goosebumps. The string and choir aspect of the band is epic. I guess you couldn't really call them a band, since Amy Lee is the only one left of the original lineup. The musicians have changed for the better.

check it out, friend... i'm not saying they suck. i mean, i can't stand them. personally, i find them (and the whole 'hard rock' commercial scene) to be overwhelmingly lame. i'm not trying to burst any bubbles or anything. just reacting to a preference you don't see too much around these here parts :p enjoy your tunes :)

They rock hard, especially on the first album. I hope #3 is as hardcore as #1.

To anyone who critiscises them I say: Try performing one of their songs. It's not impossible but it's not far off.

Fair enough, I only do Going Under but I have a hell of a lot of trouble doing it proper justice.

Right. I have heard many people say this. It is hard for my friend to play the piano parts and she is near expert. The tabs are always hard for my guitarist friends. The vocals are definetly hard, but I take pride in signing right up there with Amy Lee. You can hear right away when listening to her that she has a classicly trained voice. It is very operatic, she sings from her lower diaphram (where you are supposed to SING), belts it out and uses heavenly bravado. Her piano skills are mind blowing to say the least.

What band? It changes every year. If you don't like the one she hires for this year's concert tour, don't worry about it. You'll never see them again.
