    I have...
And it's just looks so cheap.
Maybe it really does mean something to them...

But then again. If it ment something to them they would have made it a little original right?

    Agree? Dis-agree?
Or just a story of a tattoo you've seen more than once.

Tribal armbands are a prime example of this. I think that most people that get them only get them because they dont know what to get. I may be wrong though and I dont want to offend anyone with a tribal armband cuz it could very well have a very significant meaning to them. But I believe more often than not that they are very generic and have lost a lot of their intended meaning.

I know what you mean but there are a lot of great tatoos that are the same. I like seeing the armbands on men but yeah I have always tried to be unique when I got my tatoos. They are symbols for me for who I was when I got them. ALthough I know a lot of people get butterflies and thats what I got like I said it was a symbol for me. A transformation in time so to speak, an awakening. But I cant really say anythin when I see someone who happens to like one tatoo and then the next week see someone with the same one. I would redo it a little but hey how many kinds of four leaf clovers can you do, lets say for example lol.

those bloody stars that are usually red an black. like champion stars. People into metal and punk type gear usually spot them. I used to love them until now when its like a must have accessory

those stars are nautical stars and I happen to have three of them, two on my shoulders that are not filled in as i don't know what colors i want (I got the on my 18th birthday and now I am 24 with unfinished business on my shoulders) and the one on the back of my left arm is YES RED AND BLACK (I got this one with my husband, we got them in the same spots, right after we first started dating, because I knew I wanted US to last forever and ever)

Early on sailors navigated by the stars at night and the north star became the symbol for finding ones way home. Once you know where the north star is you can point your ship in the right direction to get home. So the star became a symbol for finding ones way home or more symbolically even finding ones path in life. Therefore many sailors would tattoo nautical stars on their forearms as a good luck symbol in hopes of returning home.

however all of those kids that you see sporting a nautical star tattoo might not all have the same interpretation of its symbolism.

I see the exact same outline of a cross on 1 out or 10 people that live in my town.....

and yes I see a lot of people with the nautical stars, I remember getting mine when I turned 18 and had never really seen them before, well, only in books and in tattoo magazines when they did articles on old school artists like Jack Dracula, then everyone had them, at first I got mad, then I didn't really care, because I got them for me, no one else....................

When you enter a tattoo shop you see panals of what are called,"Flash". That means that anybody can get the same tattoo as you. Every shop will tattoo Flash on you, but some shops are,"Custom", shops and will work with you to create any design you want. You just need imagination. You need a vision of what you want. Watch Miami Ink on tele. and see. Some Flash is great, if it is what you really want. The artist can alter it a bit too if you talk to him/her.

the newest of my collection to be inked on this Thursday is a combination of images i found, some of my own drawing, lettering, banners, and I put em all together....... Took them to my artist and her re drew everything together and made it BEAUTIFUL...........

I agree with Trekker, any time you get a tattoo that you didn't hand draw or have someone else hand draw there is a chance someone else will have the tattoo you have or something similar, I made the mistake of posting the raw version of the tattoo I am going to get this week on a website, only so I could show my husband who is over seas (god knows why i didn't just email it to him, but i thought it was safe), LO AND BEHOLD someone saw it and got one very similar before I could even finish working on mine =(

Those damn swallows! ugh. They're EVERYWHERE... I respect those who get them with meaning in mind or who adorn them for their symbolism.. but those trendhumper kids.. yuck.

yeah, I hate tattoos like that

my friend has a stereotypical cross and banner design, that his girlfriend drew for him, and I haven't the heart to ever tell him what I really think of it

I see many Chinese Symbols as tattoos. They all seem to mean the same thing to me.

i dont bother getting mad because i dont know what the person sees when they look at their tattoo.
i have a lower back tattoo and have had people tell me its a tramp stamp. but when i look at it, i see the meaning i put behind it. i just happened to choose a vague enough way to display it, that others cant. which i prefer, since i see it as a really personal thing.

if the person says they got it "cause its cute" thats the only reason i'd be at all judgemental... only cause that then is a person who got a tattoo to be trendy.

The tribal when someone gets that has no meaning to them. Too much of it around here.

i have 2 tribal pieces. i have a pice behind my right ear which i drew that i rew during a difficult point in my life...it has deep meaning. i also have a large tribal piece across my shoulders that i got because looking at it ,it looked very primitive. ive always felt i was a very primitive person and it makes me feel more filled in :)

If I see cherries on one more girl's hip, I'm gonna scream!!!:) I don't know if this is just a trend in this area, but probably 25 percent (ok, maybe it's not that high, but it seems like it! ) of the women between 18 & 20 who get a tattoo, get a tattoo of 2 cherries on their hipbone, with one of the cherries exploding. :ack:"Get it, Get it? Cuz' I popped my cherry, isnt' that clever?!?" :cuss:
