Everyone has been lieing to us our whole lives

I am somewhat excited to hear (or read rather) other peoples repsonses to this question. Name or tell of something you are told as a kid, that you realised was untrue when you grew up. Something your parents, teachers, or society told you to protect you, but it turned out to be a lie. (Whether it be 'sex is wrong or dangerous' or 'god created us all by hand' or 'its wrong to be gay')...........For example:

When I was young my parents, teachers, tv, and society all told me, 'drugs are bad. All of them, stay away from them. They will fuck up your life and get you no where.' Well, after experimenting and using drugs (not habitually) for the past 6 years I have realised that is utter bullshit. I have grown into a fine adult (though somewhat immature) I have discovered a 'form' of 'God' due to drugs, discovered some incredible music and books, and have written some fuckin cool stories, poems, and songs thanks to drugs. I am sober now and use drugs only about every couple of months (I'm not considering caffine, or asprin) and I still love all the things I discovered and realised while on drugs. Bottom line is drugs are not the problem, it's the people that use them in the wrong manner that give them a bad name.

So what have you been lied to about? Whatever it may be. Peace

9)Working hard is the most important part
10)Doctor knows best
11)It really happened.They said on the news.
12)The West isn't run by modern day Hitlers with pr men.

I could go on..

The above might sound cynical.But knowing "truths" makes me feel happier.

The biggest lie I've ever been told was that I was a seperate, individual entity. When, in fact, no such a thing exists.
