I just bought a 7" Android 4.0.4 Tablet PC 1.2GHZ Allwinner A13 Prcsr 4GB HDD 512MB DDR3 Bundle I'm hoping it is ok. Would you spend a little bit more or would you be happy buying a cheap epad?
I don't generally go into that much detail. I see an over 90% rating and take my chance. 96% is brilliant, imho. People like a good old moan. I probably will be soon - I've been waiting 5 days.
5 days is long for such a small island...id suspect he says theyre in the UK but theyre probably actually shipped from hong kong
Me too. I think this is the same item. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Screen-Allwinner-1-0GHz-Android-Tablet/dp/B008E4WGKQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355636660&sr=8-1"]7" Touch Screen Allwinner A13 1.0GHz CPU Android 4.0: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics It has had some good feedback. If the item is actually new and is not faulty - I think it will be ok. The seller might be a bit stretched with high demand etc. I bought from ebay because it had a keyboard.
You'll find 512MB ram will be puishing it. The Android OS will be taking up over 200MB when booted. It doesnt take much to fill the rest. Cortex A8 Mali400 GPU, I'm guessing this is single core as it would say otherwise. It's probably pretty slow, basically a slightly overclocked mk802. Playing videos will be fine but newer games are going to stutter and lag. I'd look for a tablet with MK808 quad core specs. I've compaired the two processors inside mini PC's and with Antutu Benchmark MK802 get a score around 2500, The MK808 scores around 9600.
Yeah, I'll second that. Overall the tablet looks fine, just underpowered. I always check Newegg for reviews/prices as they often have the best prices on new electronics online, plus I hate ebay. Here's some tablets about the same price with more RAM, etc.; http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=100013680&isNodeId=1&Description=++%09+1.2Ghz+Allwinner+A13+WiFi&x=33&y=8 But keep in mind, you get what you pay for, especially with electronics.
relaxxx I bought it to browse Facebook, here (forums), email, and look at news pages etc. Maybe now and again watch some catch up tv (BBC iplayer ITVplayer etc) ... I knew it would not be good enough to play games. I don't play them anyway. I'll def' take what you said on-board for the next time. I was under the impression I could have spent another £30-40...but a lot of that would be branding. The innards wouldn't be a lot different. I did check out the component manufacturers as best I could.

The new Youtube app looks way different. Best thing about Android is it's free (you're only paying for your tablet hardware), open source, and based on linux. I've started a list of must have apps for Android 4.X... SuperUser - / i / tap to check for updates / update... BusyBox - needed for hidebar and other apps - / allow access / install normal & close Hide Bar (Demo apk) Advanced Task Killer - / settings / Auto kill Freq MX Player Astro File manager Dolphin Browser Youtube Crackle TV and Movies Frostwire - torrents and file transfer Antutu Benchmark
It's here! The screen is a little scuffed - no protective cover on it. Bit miffed about that. I'll get over it, though. It works well. The keyboard is great. Generally a good item for the cost. One MASSIVE fail, though. No 3G. It said it was compatible, and I do intend to email the supplier. But if it isn't compatible - they lied. If it really isn't it's has to go back. It's a shame. I can connect with wi-fi and an ethernet cable - but that's not why I bought it.
