Explaining polyamorous tendencies to someone?

How would you go about explaining to someone that you are polyamorous?
-Not promiscuous, but truly polyamorous- Meaning that you are capable of being in love with more than one person at a time.
I discovered this when I was 16-ish and I have never been able to explain it to anyone.
I long for the freedom to go from one lover, to another without any hurt feelings or bitterness. I would like my partners to view each other as friends who share the same female and NOT become jealous of one another.

This doesn't mean cheating. This means both of them would know about the other and fully consent to me carrying out a relationship with them as well.

Full of options - some a bit way out, but it takes all sorts..........

I find myself on the same boat however most likely from the opposite side. Don't get me wrong, I as well feel capable of loving two girls at once but the dilemma is the other way at the moment.

My girl and I are not living a polyamorous relationship at the moment but she does love another guy and me at the same time. This guy is one who she has been seeing for years during the time of our open relationship which was mainly a sexual thing but has evolved over time as we did plan and expected it to happen. She currently is in a relationship with him and has very strong feelings for him. We're both down for a poly relationship but he's not so there's the thing...

Best thing you can do is be honest up front and hope you end up with a guy like me who is open for that sort of relationship. As someone else quoted you earlier, thats the same thing I'd say. It's just how I feel - you only live once and why die regretting that you never got around to certain experiences. Live your life and enjoy it while both trying not to hurt others but also to help them and do some good.
