i stopped combing my hair and stop using shampoo for about a good month now and still, nothing is formed. but looks kinda cool ta me. haha. sometimes, though at really rare times, i wash my hair the other day (due to my sweat, of playing basketball), but routinely, i wash mine every other 3-5 days. i wash it this way. salt solution wash, then lemon puree(left for a couple of hours, or overnight), then rinse it with boiled aloe water(left in the fridge for that cold feel, sometimes, i use lemongrass or calomondon leaves), and lastly, baking soda to leave it residue-free. is my method good or what? tell me what you feel and an early thanks.

uh, and yeah, what can i do for the itching? i put some alcohol at the exact spot sometimes when im losing all my patience. i really think our country is a very dirty one(Philippines). all the pollution of the city streets gets stuck on my hair, i really think i should start wearing tams now(can it really protect it from dirt?), o yea, and what can a salt spray(i assume, it's a salt solution fused inside a sprayer) do to my hair? specifically.

there there. thanks again. have a good day.

sounds like a good cleaning method. Though, if you want something nice and simple you can order some dr. bronners i'm sure. But if your method is better for you, then do it.

itching, try to get some tea tree oil, that will definitely help after some applies.
and a tam could protect your hair from some outside dirt/elements.

    much luck.

Ya I agree a tam would help 1 on the dirt and 2 on the knoting, knots a lot faster I think from personal experience.

Your washing method seems good if your hair is clean and dry it should work with baking soda for the residues

I used sea salt water spray at the beggining but I dont think it really do any good to my hair... exept doing residues and itching because of the salt... but if you use it before washing like 20 minutes before maybe it help, I'm trying it next time I wash.

Tea tree oil helps for the itching and dandruff but that thing smells strong haha, dont use too much, makes your hair less dry too so dont over use.

Apple cider vinegar may help for the itch too, and help clean, I use white vinegar it works good too.

lemon puree? id skip that especialy not overnight

your washing methid seems work intensive and over doing things
i'd suggest altering it like this
    dr bronners or simular weekly
once a month sea salt spritse but rince it out fairly soon 15 min max id suggest
once a month do the deep clense
1 gallon water 2 tablespoons sea salyt 10 drops tea tree oil and if u want 2 tablespoons lemon juice (juice not puree)
leave in 15 min to 1/2 hour then rince (the deep clense though you canskip for months untill dreads start forming)
lastly the aloe you want pure aloe gel wether ya buy it in a bottle or get srtraight from a planyt doesnt matter..then dilute it..maybe 1/2 water? dunno experiment..
then spritse it on..or rub it on with hands
let it dry on for a day or 3 b4 rinceing off

the acv rince id also skip till theyre formed, id only do thayt when they're feelin too dry

sounds like what you're doing is alright. But remember this, the LESS time you spend on your hair, the BETTER your dreads will turn out. trust me, it's true. You're only at a month, so no major changes should be noticeable yet. Just try to enjoy watching your hair slowly change from day to day...it is quite interesting. keep at it, with the right dedication, you will eventually have some rockin' locks!

I would worry about lemon puree actually burning your scalp eventually, if left on overnight. It's quite acidic. Maybe that has something ( a lot ?) to do with the itching.

There is a recipe using cayenne pepper I believe, you could search that (sorry it's very late and I'm falling asleep, if you can't find it I'll see what I can do!). I would say Tansy infusion might work as well, but I'm sure the cayenne recipe is tested and works.

Also, lemon juice left on overnight would probably burn as much as pulp would. Iit could quite possibly be worse since the pulp is not acidic but the juice in it is. Also, it will lighten your hair, I'm not sure if that's a look you're going for, but lemon juice WILL bleach your hair if exposed to light over time.

    Good luck with everything.

i believe the bug thing is rubbing alcahol mixed with cayan soak dreads cover with plastic bag leave in awhile..not sure how long be careful your extremely flamable ..dont catch fire..lol

iver also been told sulphur powder will kill em too

for pregvention tea TRE OIL..AND I HEAR PENNYROYAL CAREFUL WITH PENNYROYAL AROUND PREGnant women thop its an herbal abortion
they will keep bugs away but wont get rid of bugs
oh while u do that u should treat the house too..u can get sprays for furniture..wash alllll your clothes sheets and everything..if your vehilclkes infested u can just seal it up and not go in it for 2 weeks and they should die off

ive also heard and dunno if its true but heard just going in a cold cold mountain stream and floating there till yoiur freezin your ass off will make them let go and float away..

whatever methd u use u also gotta do a vinagar rince
not a diluted 1 either.. soak your head in straight apple cidatr vinagaer
    it dissolves the egg casings
soak it a hour or 2 maybe? then rince wash rince wash rince..the vinafgar smell may remain a couple washings
but at least the vinagars better then the burning cayan alcahol..lol

man, i have had my dreads 6 weeks or so and already i got 'bugs' ehhhhh lice (dang i was p*ed off), i'm a nurse and i do home healthcare so i catch it atleast once a year, my clients go to over crowded day-programs, one of them get's it, then in 3 days they all have it, then in 3 more days the staff get it. i just used the rid shampoo 3 times (once every 4 days) got rid of the problem. you can't comb the eggs out and the shampoo doesn't kill the eggs, so after you shampoo the eggs hatch and bam your infected again. but by washing with the shampoo so many times over a period of time took care of everything for me.

Nympfsue, how have you found it to be working as a nurse and having dreads? I am working towards being a midwife, but in the meantime I might work as a CNA.

by nurse i didn't mean RN hehe i only have a CNA liscense but because i do homehealthcare and my company is sustained through Alta-Regional i can perform invasive procedures. i haven't had a problem so far but they have always been laid back with my piercings and tatoos etc. in a few weeks the company is having a staff/client camping trip and the CEO/owners will be there so i will see what happens.

the truth is, there is no connection between everything and bugs. you get it just by direct contact with an infected person. its egg hatch at a 7-10 period, so you might just repeat the process after counting 7-10 days after the initial treatment. ye, and i believe the cayenne and alcohol solution works best, alcohol can be substituted too with vinegar. :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2:
