so this is a fairly self explanatory thread. what is your favorite cocktail? mine has traditionally been the good old martini - gin and vermouth. but lately i've fallen in love with the old-fashioned (different recipes exist, of course, but generally bourbon, bitters, sugar, soda water, maraschino cherries, orange slice, ice)
I like Makers Mark Old Fashioned & Vodka drinks best your old fashioned doesn't look normal though, generally they muddle the orange and cherry in the bottom of the glass
it's a daiquiri. which is hilarious because I would never drink such a thing. I used to drink Bloody Mary's a lot, but like you said in another thread, if they aren't made just right they make for a rather unpleasant drinking experience. these days I usually just like to mix spirits and water.
gotcha. a sweet, fruity drink now and again can be ok. but you HAVE to make them yourself. order something like that in a bar and they assume you can't hold your liquor, so they dont make it nearly strong enough to be worth the money (or taste good) and yeah, if the proportions of everything aren't perfect in a bloody mary, they're fucking disgusting. learn to make them yourself and they're delicious, nutritious, and low calorie (as if that REALLY mattered )
long island iced tea is great as long as its not made with a mix. manhattans ive been meaning to try, but i got to the old fashioned first. martinis, now those are tried and true :cheers2: fuck me up too quick, though. if i get stuff to make martinis at home, i wake up with 2/3 a bottle of gin and 1/2 a pint of vermouth replaced by a splitting headache
i only get my Long Islands at one bar. the place my parents went to had grat long islands, a really awesome bartender - but that place closed. so now i just get them from my dive bar. Manhattans are great if made good. I don't like mine too sweet and if i could only have one spirit for the rest of my life...it would be gin
I differ from the standard recipe in that I eschew Worcestershire sauce and add twice as much tabasco.
And what joke may that be? I love Piña Coladas, it is my favorite coctail. What better to drink on a lazy day on a sunny beach?
the truth is, Pina Coladas taste good. as do daiquiris. I'm just too insecure about myself to drink them.
i like the worchestershire despite the ingredients list. i like them as-is. though i like messing with which hot sauce to use. i like to use cholula garlic chile sauce instead of tobasco, and like you said using a little extra. but only sometimes. and right on bird. pina coladas are tasty, even if they are a bit....suspect :cheers2: i love some girly drinks personally. those are at the top of the list. followed by cranberry juice with vodka.
