Yesterday Charlton Heston was buried. He was a true American Patriot who loved his country. These words in the link were made by him several years ago and it stands true more than ever today. His words should be reproduced and put into the hands of every American.

A man of conviction -- however flawed late in life. Marched with Martin Luther King in the 60s. Supported the National Endowment for the Arts. Parted the Red Sea ...

    He was a terrible actor.

This speech is filthy and represents his own views on political change and his support for increase divisions and inequality amongst people. It's a "stand-up and grab a gun" attitude that is not appreciated nor is it anyway to solve cultural problems of the modern today.

Conservatism discards Prescription, shrinks from Principle, disavows Progress; having rejected all respect for antiquity, it offers no redress for the present, and makes no preparation for the future.
    ----Benjamin Disraeli

Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.
    ----John Stuart Mill

I do not know which makes a man more conservative - to know nothing but the present, or nothing but the past.
    ----John Maynard Keynes

I am a conservative, but I am not a nut about it.
    ----George H. W. Bush

I'm a liberal, but i agree with Heston on the second amendment. I don't know how some people who call themselves "liberal" can advocate depriving American citizens of their last defense against criminals, invasion, and even tyranny imposed by our own government.

i agree with reefer, i dont see how someone can advocate taking away a freedom from someone.

There is no hope because of derelicts like you. You embody the epitimy of doom for this great country as your continued predilection for irrelevency demonstrates. Oh by the way, the price of oil is $113.00 per barrel today. Don't you liberal pacifists love it. I do.

Actually, there are some liberals who do want oil to get more expensive. If gas becomes too expensive people will stop driving their cars unless absolutely necessary, they will walk, ride a bike or take public transportation. If energy becomes too expensive, they will open the windows instead instead of turning on the A/C, they will turn off their TV's and computers and pickup a book instead. If goods that depend on oil for production or transportation become too expensive people will start recycling, making their own goods or simply do without. It will become necessary to develop new less expensive energy sources to keep our modern society running.

Trouble is: If that starts to happen the producers will drop the price to pull us back in!

Ditto. I think we're in some watershed times right now. The lynchpin that broke oil. We may not see it, but our grandkids will read about it.

It is the same mentality that has kept marijuana illegal, another personal freedom.

Millions of people hate it, but that doesn't, in my view, give them the right to take it from those who enjoy it. Millions upon millions of people love to hunt.

Thank you for your expert analysis on the psychology of gun right advocates. So very astute and observant and full of FACTS. As a sick, brutal simian, my small brain cant fathom what high logic brought you to that ingenious conclusion.

    1. They're FUN. Have you ever fired one? If you haven't, you should.

    2. Because I CAN. I do not need to explain my rights to anyone.

I agree with both of those reasons. I collect many shotguns and WW2 firearms. I like to hunt wild game so they come in handy. I have many Belgium Browning shotguns that are becoming rare. My WW2 collectables include M1 Garands that my father used in the pacific fighting the Japanese, a WW2 M1 Carbine, Military HD High Standard, M1911 Colt 45 Auto and others that are not military including a Ruger Mini-14 Assault weapon with a 223 caliber 30 round clip, Mannlicher 270 deer rifle and lots of other foriegn WW2 weapons from Germany and Japan. Hunting is a huge past time in Louisiana. They even let the kids out of schools in certain towns here on opening days of Deer and Duck season so they can go hunting with their parents. Its a tradition. The gun sales business is very lucritive here. We also have a "Shoot the Burgler Law" and "Shoot the Carjacker Law" here in Louisiana that states that any property owner if feel threated if a person comes on his land or car that the owner is justified to shoot and kill the perpetrator. Unfortunately nobody has come on my property or tried to break in my car.....YET!!!

While not all people with guns take courses, everything else is pretty much exactly how it is now, isnt it?
