And I need encouragement from all the brothers and sisters I can get. I've smoked the vile things for 20+ years, and finally gotten so fed up with feeling crappy that I'm givin' em up. I'll use nicotine patches to get through the physical addiction, but for the "habit" part, I need help!! Please anyone that's quit or even if you've never smoked, pass along some love and encouragement for this old girl. Thanks to everyone that responds.

    Peace-Bella

Good luck.... I'm doing the same thing.

As for the habit part, chew gum, eat candy, take walks, do breathing excercises. A good one is breathe in for there seconds, hold three, exhale three.

Good luck in your quest to quit smoking. I smoked on and off for 22 years before I finally quit in 2000. Chew gum and suck on mints to satisfy the oral fixation.

That's so good! That's exactly what i have to do... U better use a pen or something like that to have in ur hands. Sometimes It's more the habit of having something in your hand than smoking lol It's true!
    Cheer up!!!!!

Well done! Cigarrettes are the most creepy, insidiuos, traiterous, evil, crappy inducing thing I have ever come accross. they suck the life blood out of you, make you feel like an eejit for smoking, and then slowly destroy every piece of you. You go girl and beat the sh@t out of em! Do not let them rule you.

Take it one day at a time. Convincing yourself you wont smoke a ciggarette all day isn't so bad but thinking about going the rest of your life without a cig is kind of overwhelming o_O. It was for me anyway.

Good luck on quitting girl, it's a hard habit to quit.
I've smoked for 5 years and quit just over a month ago. I'll have a drag here and there, but I refuse to buy a pack ever again.
Just take it day by day, just remember you won't have to step into the cold and eat back cigarettes in the winter, you won't have to wash the smell from your hands, you won't have people on you about how bad smoking it.
And your lungs will feeler cleaner after a lil bit.
Chew gum, suck on mints, read books, do anything to keep your mind off smoking for the first couple weeks, after you get used to not smoking... you'll question why you ever started.

I quit a while ago, but then I realised that smoking is better than not smoking. So I started again.

me'n'JuJu quit on Dec 26...completely cold turkey, no patches, no nicotine gum...JuJu used chocolate to raise his endorphine enough to curb the cravings; I used a straw.

    Good Luck!
You can do it!!!! (and within a couple of months, you'll even look younger....smoking robs your face of 30% of its circulation...increased circulations means healthier skin :) )

Whenever you have a craving go for a jog. I'll bet you $20 you won't feel like smoking afterward.

I guess congratulations are in order. I really hope you stay off them. I have quit for about 3 months now and I have luckily had no cravings. My fiance smokes but she says she wants to quit.. I didn't use any help. Just wanted them out of my life and that was enough. It's a bad habbit no one should start.

    Cigars on occation still though.

I used a spoon, untill one blasted day where I was going to fix some cables behind a stage monitor and the spoons handle got smacked into said monitor and broke my damn tooth... After a couple of days of terrible pain (i hate dentists) and lots of whiskey, I got it fixed and found that I smoked even more after the failed project...

The moral, I hear you cry... Well, the moral is this; spoons are evil!

    Oh, and good luck...

Good for you Belladonnablue!! I smoked on and off for 3 years. I quit when I was 18 and it was the best decision of my life! I love not having to deal with it! Plus me and my home smell a lot better! I quit by just throwing away the pack and not having another puff again. I didn't use mints or gum or patches, it was total willpower that got me quit. - and it is still rewarding to know that I did it this way. .. Hope you can kick the habit permanently and stay with it. Good Luck!

Ive been smoking for 3 years and I don't think I can quit. What got me back on smoking is the times I tried to quit Id go like 2 weeks without smoking a cig. Then end up going to a party and drinking and o damn I smoked a cig then Id just keep it up. I final quit for awile when I went to jail but then I said fuck it because I got nothing left to loose when Im a felon but if your not a felon don't be around people or smoky areas when trying to quit and you should do fine.
