First Time Salvia Advice?

I have never tried salvia before, my Hindu friend uses it for spiritual purposes and recommended it. He gave me a few grams of 20X extract. How should I go about this? Any tips, advice, warnings, etc? Thanks.

There are countless threads in the salvia section you should sift through providing info on using salvia for first time.

-Use a bong/bubbler
-take big hits and hold in ~10 seconds
-be in a safe enviornment and a sitter is good
-be open to the experience (don't try to fight it)
-place it on top of an herb so it doesnt fall through stem hole when lit, keep flame on salvia while inhaling.

 

follow the above advice, and be prepared for something IN-fucking-TENSE!
the intensity of my salvia breakthrough surprised the hell out of me. it probably would have regardless of if i was expecting it to or not. it's the only thing that has taken me completely away from my surroundings and made me forget that i took a drug

 

I smoked it when I was in highschool and it was legal in nc... it works best with a butane lighter... which is why you also need a bong

I was going to smoke it in a pipe.

 

a pipe works, just don't take pussy hits and cough them immediately.

a sitter is a MUST. if I didn't have a sitter when I brokethrough I would've severely injured myself and possibly even died. some people don't move at all even when they breakthrough, but I was the extreme opposite and was flopping / turning around everywhere with no idea of my surroundings whatsoever.

be prepared to kiss your body and reality goodbye permanantly (obviously it's not permanant, but you'll be convinced that it's permamant while it's happening with no idea you smoked a drug.

my advice? dont. ill do any drug, ive done most already (besides the really exotic) but i seriously tell ppl to steer very clear of salvia and i lose no sleep over it, if you want the most horrific experience of your life go for it. but all of my "every surface is made of tiny people, oh my god my mouth wont open, im suffocating, gotta force my jaw open, oh my god im gonna bite my fingers off" experiences have convinced me that salvia is a drug made of evil spirits. seriously.

 

it made me a bus seat, and that was just hello. You ever feel yourself change into the shape of a bus seat? I could FEEL the teeth popping out of my mouth as my head was zipped into the seat.

 

yea sensations much like that^^ while ive never "been" anything except a terrified individual. you will feel some strange things like teeth popping out and shit, not fun

 

I have found it both extremely beautiful and utterly terrifying, its more 'dissonant' than other psychedelics with the weird body sensation and confusion it often produces but it can be absolutely amazing exploring those realms if you can go with it.

 

every time I would do it I would always tell myself "ok just accept what's happening to you this time" but once it starts every single thought you are left with will try and do anything it can to not become the state you are entering - seems so unnatural and forced to our minds.

I've yet to try it with MDMA or speed, I imagine that'd make the whole thing feel less forced.

i imagine it'd also go fantastic with an opiate nod, but from what I've read salvia is an opiate agonist and would not work if you were on it.

I tried it once on benzos, they removed all of the salvia fear but as expected they made the experience totally un-worthwhile (as benzos do to any experience) by inducing complete amnesia.

 

Well I think this is true of salvia more so than for most drugs
