Christian zealots are to Christianity as Sarah Palin is to the Republican Party.

I heard about this, pretty extreme reaction for a Church to take. But, there will be fundamentalists in every religion, who go one step too far.

Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness. (Matthew 7:21-23)

I am very much familiar with that verse and in in total agreement with it.
Could you please expound on the relevance of that verse to the burning of the Quran?

True believers of any stripe can always find rationalizations for their acts. The members of this "church" are in thrall to the "leader/s" of the group and will continue to give their hard-earned lucre to same. Is'nt that what it's usually about? There's a niche for everyone.

It could be their attempt at "expelling demons" and the verse seems to be saying that those doing such things are considered "workers of lawlessness" by Jesus.

It could also refer to the fact that "doing good deeds" does not redeem.

Organized book burning is a fascist act.

I can't say I'm surprised, this sort of thing is typical of organised religions (the Abrahamic ones in particular).

Their vices shall be conquered by their virtues. They shall become slaves of the Bible broadcasting system. Though, I'd like to go hitch hiking down in those parts for some of that good old time religion.

Ten Reasons to Burn a Koran:

    Four
The earliest writings that are known to exist about the Prophet Mohammad were recorded 120 years after his death. All of the Islamic writings (the Koran and the Hadith, the biographies, the traditions and histories) are confused, contradictory and inconsistent. Maybe Mohammad never existed. We have no conclusive account about what he said or did. Yet Moslems follow the destructive teachings of Islam without question.

I must answer futility. Is that the point of the famous Silent Majority ideal? To the left reality owns no time for the essential temporal content.

Yeah imagine if someone tortured and killed the leader of the Christian faith, maybe they would understand better.

Back in the Nineties, they would linch those foreign religions for the conscience of self-sacrifice and the golden rule. That way freedom was for the justice of emotional fear, the big fear, if you know what I mean.

Will they stop at the Quran? I have read it once before and have been reading it again, bits at a time. Just like I have the Holy Bible. And the Book of Mormon (BoM). And the LDS Doctrine and Covenants (D&C). And the LDS Pearl of Great Price (PoGP). And the Torah.

So because the church disagrees with the validity of the BoM, will they burn it as well? And the PoGP? D&C? What about the Torah? Oh, wait, will they consider the Torah? It is Jewish, right? Even though it's really the first five books in the Hole Bible....?

Freedom of Religion ain't just for Christians.
