Ok, so I know acid can cause HPPD, but can shrooms also do this? I sort of hope they can I feel like the idea of spontaneous free mini trips back to shroom consciousness would be awesome.
Flashbacks are a psychologcal issue, similar to post-traumatic stress disorder. A trip is just such a strong event in your mind that it can "burn" a memory onto your brain, leading to it possibly being triggered in the future. So both have the potential, as they are strong events in your mind. so to answer your question yes, you can. but they aren't like what you think they would only be very mild and brief if they did occur its usually rare especially if your not a normal user.

yea i think they could, but it's not like how above the influence presents it. according to them this means they are brain damaging, which is not true. albert hoffman (father of LSD) has tripped thousands of times, and is 103 years old. anyway, yes heavy use of shrooms could cause flashbacks. using them a few times a month probably won't.
Hey, I was searching for something about shroom flashbacks... I've only taken mushrooms, never LSD. So anyways I was waiting for my friend to pick me up outside my house. As I was waiting I was standing in front of my car, I pushed some snow off my car window and snow started to slide down the window. Eventually it stopped sliding but it looked like it was still sliding, suddenly I felt a little giddy and light headed. I then noticed my neighbours house in front of me was kinda pulsing. Then it was gone, but I did have fun for about 4 minutes! I hope I get another one. Maybe it was a sign to do shrooms again... I haven't done them in a long ass time, and now that I think about it, I would love to do them again...
I believe flashbacks can occur for most psychedelic drugs. I have regular moments of acid like state of minds. But before I got into LSD I had only done shrooms and I had a lot of moments of shroom like state of mind.
flashbacks are pretty rare occurences(sp?) actually. i've done acid countless times in my life over the years. except for in recent times of course. i've certainly never had any as of yet.
I had my first mushroom flashback two days ago, so I thought I'd share. I was watching a movie, and in one of the more depressing scenes I started to share a really deep understanding of the characters, and really started to get launched into their heads so to speak. When I thought 'this is weird and unnatural' I realized that it wasn't and acid flashback like I get every month or two, but my first shroom flashback! Then it went away. Even though I am a big fan of acid and not at all a fan of mushies (so far), the flashback was a lot cooler. My acid flashbacks arent really mindfucky, they are more visual, in terms of the negative space around an object for some reason being reminiscent of an acid trip. Of course, I don't really know how I know that it was a shroom flashback and not an acid flashback. I just do.. It would be interesting to hear from someone that has taken a plethora of psychedelics if they can differentiate the type of flashback they are having, or if it even makes a difference.
perhaps it was the overall character of the flashback that lead you to that conclusion. i have found psilocybin to have a more weighed down and soft quality to it. acid on the other hand tends to be more prone to have patterns to it's trips and is linear in nature. more analytical than psilocybin.
I had a flash back a few weeks after my first and only bad trip from mushies a few years back here goes a long story: i woke up one morning to my alarm beeping it was time to go to work but i couldnt understand this, I sorta draged my self outa bed looked at the time on my bed side clock and it made no sense i just couldnt understand the numbers i was looking at. So i staggered around the house for a bit trying to work out what i was ment to do (i knew i was awake for some reason but could not work out why or much else going on for that matter) after a few mins i called my girfriend at the time who told me i was ment to be geting ready for work to which i was like "righttttt work now how do i do that" she told me to get in the shower so i ended the call walked around in some dazed state for a few more mins before i remember her advice about the shower jumped in there and by the time i was out the door for work the world made alot more sence. Sure this doesn't sound like a typical flash back but it was the same utter confusion and state of nothing making sense which was the same as i suffered on my bad trip. Not all flashbacks are fun, then again not all trips are fun
hell yeah, one of the first times i did shrooms, i had a friggen intense flashback... i made a thread about it before.. wait. lemme find t. lol.
lol wow.. i've never experienced anything like that from shrooms... but with pot... yeah.. all the time. lol.
yeh i dunno with shrooms i always find them to be chaotic on my mind i prefer lsd as i feel more in control and usually able to make sense of the things going on around me alot better lol. Whoa thats a fairly strange flash back! My brain has been fairly good to me recently
Wow that was an interesting experience. Have you ever had sleep paralysis before or since then? I wonder if the shrooms caused it.
I had one incident of a hallucinogenic flashback. I took some mushrooms before seeing ISIS and Tool. Friggen awesome! I was so lost in my world. But anyway, I went to see ISIS about 7 months later and when I was watching the opening band I started to trip. I thought i was just being sick but eventually all the peoples bodies started blending together. The top portion of my vision was white while everything else was black. I eventually merged the white with the black (this is similar to acid [though at the time I have not done acid yet] where you can transpose and manipulate the visual world around you0 But I turned everything white. I was blind for 5 minutes with not a clue what the hell was going on. I felt very seperated from life, like I was in pergatory or something. I eventually fell down and realized what had happened. At the time I was very scared but when I look back on it I find this memory very nice for 1. Free trip, kind of 2. I felt like I had passed on, I was at a very high celestial level. In conclusion, hallucinogenic flashbacks happen, but shit. They can be very helpful to you and your meaning and definition of life itself.
"Flashbacks" from LSD are purely due to physiological causes. When you ingest acid, it has a nasty tendency to sometimes become "stuck" in certain areas of veins and arteries. This acid may stay lodged in your blood vessel for seconds/days/weeks/months/years. If something causes the acid molecules to dislodge, they will reenter the bloodstream and circulate through your brain. The amount dislodged is usualy very small, which is why flashbacks are very brief. Peace & love
