We recently started a compost bin maybe....2 or 3 months ago. We have alot of fruit flies in our bin. Is this bad? If it is what can we do to reduce the amount of flies? I've read that putting a penny in a ziploc baggie filled with water works...does anyone have any experience with that?

wishing you much peace and love

Fruit flies are always going to be near your compost bin. Is it just a bin inside? or do you have an area outside for your compost?
I have had a compost area all my life we have a small container inside or in summer we keep it just ourside the door and then empty it and wash it out often.
We always put beer in a glass and then covered the top with saran wrap and poke tiny holes in it, unually they can get in but not out. only fill the glass 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup full.
    I hope it helps,
