O.k., the carrots went over but not well. Today he got to try the yam. Absolutly loved it! he kept grabbing the spoon right out of my hand and putting it in his mouth. He didn't want to give it back, I kept having to distract him and steal it. It was a happy eating time for both of us.

yay! Yams are a GREAT first food. So are green beans. I've never known a baby NOT to like green beans. :)

Carrots are pretty hit and miss, so are peaches, I've seen.

And remember, don't try too many foods all at one time. You want to be able to notice which is giving a food allergy, if any develop. :)

my littlest one ate so many sweet potatoes as a baby that her skin started to look kinda yellow to me (nobody else noticed it, though). Try squash, too.

HippyFreek - neither of my babies would eat green beans mushed, but the oldest would eat them as finger food she could pick up and feed to herself. Little one still won't eat them.

Peaches are too acidic for most babies until they get a bit older. If it causes diaper rash, or a red ring around his butthole, back off on that particular food for a while.

Awe, I remember when my son would eat. When he was a baby, I could make him any veggie and he would gobble it up so happily. Sweet potatoes were his favorite. Now at almost 3 years old, he will not touch a bite of anything but bread :( It's so frustrating as a parent to not be able to feed your child, I miss the days of him being so eager to try new foods.

two spoons or run the food through the foodmill just thick enough for fingers to scoop.
