You know how every uncultured moron out there thinks that the NFL is soft because they wear helmets? Well if the NFL continues to take the fun out of big hits involving helmet to helmet I'll no doubt start believing this is true too. BRING BACK THE HITS!!!
Harrison's hit was completely legal. +_+ USA Today had a small article making a great point. If they really care about taking care of the players, why are they thinking about extending the season by two games? (And ruining preseason +_+) It's all PR and it's all because of Time magazine calling Football the most dangerous sport +_+ Hello, we have poker rodeos in this country!
One day it'll end up like Rugby tackles which will completely ruin the game. I was reading an article on helmets yesterday at newyorktimes and apparently they've never been tested for concussion purposes. Lol. So they should just make better, stronger helmets and let the boys play football. One day Talladega and Daytona will be taken away from NASCAR for safety concerns. What a sad, sad thought.
you can still have big hits without leading with your head those that launch there bodies into other people are just an unskilled player who thinks he knows how to tackle
Still takes the spectacle out of the sport. Might as well watch soccer or something. To them a "tackle" is kicking the ball from someone. ROFL.
In the case of Harrison's $75,000 hit, he led with his arms, still made helmet-to-helmet contact (as the player put his head down); in violation of no NFL rules, and was fined for helmet-to-helmet. They are talking about kicking players out of games, suspending them, and even disciplining coaches for encouraging 'such behavior' -- but what the fuck did he do wrong? (Other than make big noise) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81dS21QTgkQ"]YouTube - STEELERS James Harrison hard hit on Browns Mohamed Massaquoi 10-17-10 (Meanwhile, Harrison's hit that nearly killed Josh Cribbs earlier in the game, was completely legal, isn't being disputed as legal, and he did actually lead with his head -- but Cribbs wasn't 'defenseless')
I agree and furthermore ESPN should bring back Jacked-Up hosted by Chris Berman and Tom Jackson Hotwater
It's alright, we can be uncultured together. I watched the Super Bowl about 4 years ago and it was just to spite the people who took me to that particular party because a) I was a vegetarian then and there was absolutely NOTHING there I could eat, but they wouldn't let me eat before the party because, "We don't have time, there will be plenty of food at the party!" and b) I was a hermit and hated social gatherings. I sat stone faced in front of that TV the WHOLE time. And even sat through the episode of Grey's Anatomy that played right afterwards. Never again!
Yea i hear ya duck but I can see why it might be a bigger deal. His hands didn't even help make contact and, they are in front of him, and he heads the guy strait on. Harrision is huge compared to that guy and he heads him like that. Strait up its a dirty hit. To change the rules is wrong as well. This does depends on how far that they take this rule though, it could ruin more rules as well. The eagles, falcon hit that sunday was bad too but very different. Both guys went down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ls64794ZSOo"]YouTube - Eagles vs Falcons DeSean Jackson v. Dunta Robinson HUGE hit! and this hit on reggie bush, looks clean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqmdI3tVuMA"]YouTube - Sheldon Brown destroys Reggie Bush these look like more hits harrision looks like dirty man.
