i have 42 three week old Afganica seedlings and will soon run out of space in my grow room. I want to take clones to determine sex to weed out males and am interested in force flowering. Any tips?
Yeah, Thats easy. To thin out the grow room before you force them to flower just take 12 to 15 random plants in their soil and put them in a cardboard box so that they have plenty of breathing room between them. The box should be able to close with a few inches above the tops of the plants. Then crumple up some newspaper to put between the pots so they don't move around. Cut a one inch wide by 8 inch long hole in each side. Close box and tape securely shut. Then send the box to me. You will now have plenty of room in your grow area and you won't have to screw with your plants heads. Seriously, you can do it by turning your light cycle to 12/12. Just like you would for normal flowering. It will take a week and a half to two weeks before signs of sex. Maybe take out a few plants that are not doing as well as the rest first. Better to sacrifice a few for the crop. then the crop for impatients. Just my opinion Billbeau
i think i should refine my question. i want to force flower clones, not my seedlings. i have enough space for now and think i can hold 25-30 to maturity. i am really asking for either tips on force flowering or quick sexing. i have never grown from seed (only clones) so have never sexed plants
Are you asking how to quick sex a plant to take clones from? Switch your lights to 12/12 and flowers should appear in one to two weeks. Males flower sooner than females. Billbeau
I should add that I'm doing this with an eye toward producing a mother, so I don't want to flower the seedlings
oh ok, i think that i am getting what you are saying.....you want to start a mother plant to produce clones from it? is that what you are saying??? well if so its easy just veg your plant the whole time ( 18/6 lighting). then just wait till the clones are as big as you want them, then get r done.............. oh yes for best results use fox farms grow big for veg, and use 10,000 lumens of fluros and you will have one supreme mother plant......b_O420
Take at least 1 clone from each plant. Label everything so you know what clone(s) came from what donor. Ideally the clones should be rooted (takes about 2 weeks) before inducing 12/12, but I've done it as soon as I took the clones, putting the clones in cubes and in a light-tight enclosure and setting the flo's to 12/12 right off. However, some didn't make it. My usually sucess rate with rooting clones is usually nearly 100%, but about 25% of the plants I was trying to root AND sex at the same time died.
