I'm glad the ban is finally coming into force. We can probably expect mass-civil disobedience on the part of the hunters. We should be ready to counter this, if possible. As much as helping the police and the government out seems distasteful, this is one area in which the law actually seems just, at last....

apparently your allowed to hunt a fox with two dogs, so everyones gonna split the dogs into teams of two, which really sucks

He's right, it's called "flush hunting" ... 2 dogs are allowed to 'flush' a fox from it's hiding place and then it gets shot.

    I'll look for a link

Comes down to 'pest' control I guess. I don't agree with it, but at least it's still explicitly clear that hunting for sport will be banned. Bye bye toffs....

i don't agree with hunting, in fact i think its sick, but its supporting the countryside infrastructure which will inevitably collapse which means people will have to move to the towns whilst rich wankers buy up the estates and horse farms and never use them for what they were intented for, all in all an entire way of life is dead

not that i care especially...i have 2 years left of england

Thats not really true at all, it hardly does anything for the countryside infrastructure. Maybe a few thousand jobs at most, and it's not like they'd be destroyed if the hunters moved into drag hunting. It's hardly a drop in the ocean....

i saw a news article in which a woman was pointing out that her buisness was going to be ruined because no one wanted to hire hunt horses, whereas before she'd been solidly booked. Only a few thousand jobs? Do you realise how many livlihoods thats ruining? If they can't afford to live in the country then they have to come to the towns which means that country real estate prices go up which means country people can't buy. People aren't thinking about just how far reaching this is peoples entire lives rely on fox hunting. I don't belive fox hunting is right but i don't think it should be banned. They actually keep tabs on the number of foxes to ensure that the population stays steady, by stopping this we're messing around with the eco system.

I wonder if they had the same argument a couple of hundred years back when they had to get rid of their slaves?

well sometimes arseholes just don't listen to reason...

If all the people involved in fox hunting got involved in a "real" sport instead (that didnt involve slaughter) then jobs would be created elsewhere in a more humane industry.

People are thinking how far reaching it will be.. and i think it will continue in one way or another .. adapt ad survive i would have thought.. banning fox hunting is nothing new.. and i can see the point of people not wishing to give up traditions but the 20th century and the industrial revolution has fundementaly changed the way we see the countryside and its pursuits within

gee whiz i love the culture show :p
