I am the president of a group here in Mesquite, Texas called Student Group for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I have e-mail PETA and recieved a free copy of 'Animal Times,' 'Grrr,' 'PETA's Guide To Animals and the Dissection Industry,' 'PEAT's Literature Catalog,' 'Vegetarian Starter Kit,' 'PETA's Guide To Becoming An Activist.' I know this might sound like a lot of free information, but, I have a group, and I need as much as I can get my grubby little hands on ;-) If there is anywhere else I can get some free information from, please let me know.
Here are some links of choice: www.cok.net send out starter kits (if you're in the US, otherwise you have to print your own) www.animalaid.org.uk www.veganoutreach.com www.ifaw.org I personally just snoop around the net and print out anything of interest. If you need lots of copies black and white photocopying might be more economic. Good luck with the club. It sounds great TTFN Sage
I think that's very cool that PETA sent you all that stuff... you may want to look at groups like World Wildlife Fund and Greenpeace, I'm sure they'll have plenty to send you!
A word of caution. If you're an animal rights group, you may want to avoid groups such as the World Wildlife Fund and National Wildlife Federation, which both actively support hunting. The WWF, for instance, argues in support of the infamous Harp Seal hunt in Canada. Anyway, another good site with lots of downloadable PDF files is http://www.fund.org/library/index.asp?category=Fact+Sheets . You can print out numerous nice-quality factsheets and copy them for distribution. Many organizations, including In Defense of Animals, also have electronic e-newsletters, so you will always have updates and ideas.
Hahaha I do that so much I have my own group too (Grande Prairie Animal Rights Crew), and I love how PETA sends so much free info to people like us, it helps so so much!
