My First Amendment right clearly says I have the freedom to exercise my Religious beliefs. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Now , to me , Marijuana is a part of my Religion. It is a holy herb I use to be closer to God. I feel a huge spiritual connection when I smoke. And I KNOW there are thousands of people that believe in this holy herb too. How the fuck can these people tell me I can't smoke my holy plant? They are breaking the FIRST law ever written for the United States. I know there have been people fighting for this and these government people don't take us seriously. I have the right to believe what I want and these government people laugh when I say Marijuana is part of my religion. So Government , fuck you. I will fight and fight , for my right , of my religion. And I will win. Also , LSD , DMT , Shrooms. All spiritual connections too. All part of MY religious beliefs. Majority of the people to use these "drugs" have spiritual connections with them. How is no one fighting this? All you hippies today are a disgrace. And I wish I didn't have to say this. Not only fighting this but many other issues regarding freedom you sit back. You aren't hippies. You all sit in the woods n hit drums n smoke pot. "Hippies" fought for their freedoms in the 60's and protested what they knew was wrong and you all gave up. Now you all want non commericial "gatherings" to hang out with each other and pray while spending most of your time living in "holding camps" until the next little shin dig happens. You are all posers. You are not hippies. When I learned about that movement I thought it was amazing. What I see now is people wanting to have a good time over fighting for your rights. You people don;t care anymore. Maybe you care but you do nothing for the cause you care about. I look at this hippie section and lower my head. "What are you wearing today " " You know your a hippie if.." "What shoes do you wear". Wtf is this shit? Get off you asses and fight for your damn rights. ~Flame~away~
Yes, but even if human sacrifice is part of your religion, that doesn't make it legal to practice. I agree that marijuana should be legal, but your argument here's not stacking up.
i think the best argument weed has is that its not as bad as alcohol and alcohol is legel, and another is that taxes on weed will bring in alot of money.
the prison industry thrives on the incarceration of potheads. the lawyers makes money off of the prosecution and defense of potheads. every judge, bail bondsman and officer of the court, every cop and prison guard, every paper shuffler and all the related businesses that service the legal and prison industry depend on the constant flow of potheads and other nonviolent offenders shuffling through the system to keep them in business, keep them employed, justify their pay bi-weekly check. and those are just the all folks who make money off of potheads legally. that doesn't even begin to take note of drug cartels, growers, packagers, smugglers and distributers. legalize pot and that river of money dried up. it's always about the money. your rights as a human being, your religion and free will doesn't ever enter the picture. get caught with your sacred herb and you're just another teat on the cash cow there to be milked.
If Marijuana is hurting no one "but myself" while I'M smoking it then there is no reason for it not to be a legal practice. Your comparison is horrible. My argument stacks up perfect , you just need to think better. If I'm practicing my religion when it hurts no one at all , it should be perfectly fine to be legal for me to practice it. No one is getting hurt by me smoking and meditating or me smoking DMT and laying on a couch for 10 minutes. Exactly why people need to fight for their rights. All those so called hippies gave up on fighting for rights and ran n hid in the woods. Now all we have are tye tie wearing , grateful dead listening , drug taking posers that sit around and talk about how the government is so bad yet do nothing to try and fight for rights.
What about all the extra crap put into marijuana now? Is smoking that stuff and releasing it into the air good for others and the environment? Would not people drive while under the influence? Is not their perception skewed? I'm hoping you're proposing to make it illegal to drive or opperate machinery while high. It would be good for Taco Bell though. Lol
Ps- I do agree with your freedom of religion, if only the marijuana did not harm others. I respect how you stand for your beliefs. Kudos, man.
Obviously your impaired and it would be illegal to drive. Same laws that apply to alcohol would apply to marijuana obviously. Organically grown herb is what I smoke. No "extra crap" added. You can't get high by smelling Marijuana in the air and it is perfectly fine towards the environment. Marijuana doesn't harm others if they aren't smoking it. I have no intentions to drive or do anything besides meditate when I smoke. And it is my Religious right to do so.
I know you can't get high by second hand. What I meant is that marijuana sold on the street has tar and other stuff(I'm no expert, so I'm not sure of specifics) added in that makes it harmful to breathe in. I'm not sure about organic, home grown.
It's harmful to breathe gas fumes at a gas station , its harmful to breathe in fumes from passing cars , etc. If i took the time I could find hundreds of things harmful to breathe in. Anything besides oxygen is harmful to the lungs. It's not an issue. Money is the issue. They make a lot of money with it staying illegal. There are no excuses/issues for me not to be able to practice my Religion.

"we" would have to buy the majority congresscritters and senators and those cost millions of dollars each. "we" would need a huge well funded lobby that throws elegant parties for the influential powers that be and writes huge checks to buy their loyality and co-operation for "our" cause. sorry but i just don't see how such a circumstance could ever materialize. we aren't living in a democratic republic, ya know. we're living under a plutocracy wherein only the voices heard by elected official are the voices of their corporate masters.

There is no extra stuff put into weed. That's a myth. Every now and then there'll be someone who sprays their weed with distilled water or some chemicals to make it weigh more - when this happens it's obvious and generally not smoked. Tests have proven that stoned drivers actually drive more cautiously and tend to have better awareness of possible dangers. Their reaction times are slightly impaired but they make up for it with cautious driving, and perform better than sober drivers. Marinol is a form of synthetic THC, one of the active compounds in Cannabis, the one that "impairs" reaction time, etc. It is an accepted medication, and there are no restrictions on driving or operating machinery while under its effects. Anyone who can justify the illegality of Cannabis to themselves for more than a few seconds needs to seriously do a little research. It's possible the most harmless thing on this planet, and it's being treated as one of the more harmful things. It's ridiculous. However, at the same time, I'm not sure I'd trust the UK government to legalise weed. If a government can claim that it causes schizophrenia, or that it causes aggression, then I'd be tempted to think they'd spout just as much bullshit when they're trying to sell the plant. They'd add even more chemicals to Cannabis than they do to tobacco, due to Cannabis naturally burning a lot faster and less even. Simply put. The laws are racist laws that were put in place to put down Mexicans and Blacks. It's ridiculous that we still follow them today even though we claim to be a politically correct "equal" society. Edit: No, it doesn't have any tar or anything. All matter, when smoked, produces forms of tar. However a common misconception is that all of these forms of tar are bad. The reason tobacco smoke increases your risk of cancer is due to radioactive elements that are present at trace levels in the plant - which are released when smoked. Cannabis does not have these elements in it, and there has never been a case of lung cancer linked to Cannabis use alone. On the contrary, Cannabis use helps combat cancerous cells, it also helps new cells to form in the memory area of your brain, it helps widen your airways, it helps ward of alzheimers, it helps relieve pain - Hell I could list benefits for about a year and not even be a tenth of the way through. -Matt
You're missing the point. We don't make exceptions for crimes because they didn't hurt anyone. I don't think anything should be illegal that's not harmful to anyone but yourself. But that's not the point. If it's a crime, no one cares if it hurts no one but yourself -- it's still a crime, and you'll still be prosecuted. This is no different if you did it because it was a religious belief. I understand where you're coming from, and I agree with you, but from a legal standpoint your argument sucks.
Obviously it is a crime , that's why I posted this. That's why I;m saying I have the right to practice it which means I'm saying the law needs change because of it. Also look at the Rastafari people. They smoke it because of their own religious beliefs , they have that right in this country to practice that belief. The law needs to be changed. It is OUR first Amendment right. The "crime" I'm doing is my Religious practice and when it is hurting no one at all that means their is no reason for it to be a crime since I have the right to freedom of Religion. From a legal standpoint my argument is constitutionally correct and the law banning me from my Religious practice is in fact unconstitutional. atriot:

FYI, i've done more than my share of waving protest signs and shelling out bail money for my pet Cause so pfffft! on your dire judgement of my attitude. is my attitude cynical or realistic? **shrug** i guess you'll find out eventually. PS. your managed to critique my bad attitude but failed to lay out your strategy for winning your rights. you gather together a bunch of open minds and then ... what?
