My friend is in the Marines, and tonight I learned that he isn't coming home for Christmas. This is hurting me so bad... I know we've had a lot of differences in views, and being in the Marines is really what he wants to do (despite my protest), but I don't know if I'll ever even see him again now. Where will he be sent? Who will he have to fight? Will he die? I feel so helpless, like no matter what we do, this war in iraq will keep on going, and there's nothing we can do to stop us, and all of our family and friends in the military will get sucked in and involved, and possibly get injured or die. I don't want that! I wish there was something I could do, but whatever it is, it won't stop what is already taking place, and I hate it. I just want it to end, and for all of the killing and hurt to stop. It isn't worth it. ~Nova
When i used too race motorcycle there was a good chance i would not go home either but is a chance we take. he wanted to play soldier oh welll he is now!.
I agree with the movie Grumpy Old Men where she says the things in life you regret the most is the risks you never took. I think its what makes you happy as Dave Dobbyn {famous kiwi rocker} said one persons freedom is another persons chains. I guess as much as you worry I sure you would rather him be happy
Oh, that's terrible!I've got a lot of friends who don't live here but I know they are ok.Just think of him and suport him, that's the only think you can do.
he volunteered to join, he and people like him are the reason why the war is still going. stop whining okay? they got themselves involved, its a volunteer army, is it not? what about the people being killed by your friends and family? are they worth less just because you dont know them? you want this war to be over but you're on the side of the american troops.... yeah that makes a whole lotta sense.
What is with all hatefullness going on? My gosh! The girl comes here concerned about her friend and she has people being insensitive and blameing her and all that crap! What is the deal? My cousin's best friend since gradeschool got killed in Iraq... It was horrible that he died... I think my cousin or at least his parents are pacifists as well... I am sorry to hear, I hope he makes it home, and that he isn't placed into a battle situation. <quote>he volunteered to join, he and people like him are the reason why the war is still going. stop whining okay?</quote> Wrong, not the reason we are still fighting, the reason Bush hasn't issued a draft! Do you really think Bush would end the war for lack of participation or lack of interest? You are dreaming... Bush is WAY more bullheaded than that. Obviously, you don't know our nations leaders! Why is it that there are not as many protests and peace marches as were in Vietnam? I would LOVE to protest the war in a protesting enviroment, but there just isn't opportunity. NovaStarwind, don't listen to some of those people who posted... You are worried about your friend, and with good reasons! You shouldn't be friends ONLY with like-minded people! That accomplishes nothing! Your concern is commendable, and I wish the best for your friend, and hope and pray this war will end soon...
its really dumb to be all like "oh my gosh, im so sad, my friend is in iraq, i hope he comes home soon, this war shouldnt even be going on, lets blame the administration not my friend who volunteered"... yeah karma sucks, eh? yeah yeah that was cruel... but hey so is the invasion and murder of innocent peoples funny how it was some democrats who proposed the last draft bill. and that was like 2 and a half years ago. obviously youre not really one to be saying that either. its because most people are pansies and are afraid of being politically incorrect.
you can support the troops and sti be against the war. Many of my friends who don't support it had to sign ast week, because they have no money for college. When you have no money, it is a nice last resort. I would personaly never sign, but not everyone there is "too kick some ass", it's fucking rude remarks like yours that make pacifists look not very peaceful.
I am sure that your companion would appreciate a nice holiday letter with a few snapshots enclosed. Tell him thank you for serving, his commitment is appreciated. I am not sure when jihad will end. Suicide bombings and pronouncements to wipe Israel off the map are unsettling in the least. In the meantime I am grateful for your friends service. It is a noble cause to bring freedom and democracy to the downtrodden people of former dictatorships. They can be our friends of the future. Terrorist bombing by The IRA only ended when The Irish grew too ashamed of the results of the carnage and stopped giving money to the IRA. I wonder what the shame factor is in places like Saudi Arabia and Iran.
<quote> I would personaly never sign, but not everyone there is "too kick some ass", it's fucking rude remarks like yours that make pacifists look not very peaceful.</quote> YES!!! THANK YOU MUSHIE!!! YOU HIT IT RIGHT ON THE HEAD!!! As for the comments from soulrebel, there is a differance between being a pacifist and being, well, whatever it is that you are. Pacifists are against the establishments that start wars. Not against the soldiers. Most of the time, they are brainwashed from birth to beleive America is number one and that it is an honor to go kill all those who oppose us. Albeit WRONG thinking, it is brainwashing! I wasn't raised a pacifist, I became one. All my friends were, and now still most are, conservative bush-loving pro-war people and I DON'T support that in the least! However, I USED to, and it took some mental reprogramming! Most people never come to that realization partly because people who SAY they want peace act totally unbecoming to their dreams *ahem*. But Bob Dylan wrote a song called Masters Of War, and you should listen to it. It changes perspective on it to relizing that people in the military are really getting screwed just like everyone else (only problem is they don't know it most of the time, because they are too blinded by the valor and all that other stuff that is supposed to go long with the military...). The parenthasized part is not an idea expressed in the song, it is just a side note. <quote>funny how it was some democrats who proposed the last draft bill. and that was like 2 and a half years ago.</quote> Yeah, politicians are corrupt... I don't know what the political party matters. I never said I was a democrat... I never even mentioned a political party... It is the establishment, not the political parties! PINEY, hey that is a great idea! She could deffinately send him carepackages and such, and try to make his stay comfortable. That would be pretty cool of you...
only if your brain isnt working properly. this continues to be one of the most fucked up statements ive ever heard every time i hear it. "man, i dont have any money, so im gonna join the army, ill get paid for killing, sounds easy enough, and guess what, people will support me even though i gave up on finding a job who's sole objective isnt killing people" humans are so stupid you're just an illogical hypocrite. you say you dont support the war, but it is the troops pulling the triggers, is it not?
the establishments that start the wars start the wars. the soldiers are the ones that keep the war going. both are equally fucked up... imo the soldiers are moreso. they could singlehandedly stop the war if they would stop fighting... but yet they dont, and the majority of the sheeple support their decisions. and so we should support them for this or feel sorry for them or what....? so you are saying that if the troops would stop fighting and if people stopped enlisting the war would not end? yeah that makes a whole lotta sense. ahahaha... you said " Wrong, not the reason we are still fighting, the reason Bush hasn't issued a draft!" It was the democrats who proposed the last draft bill, and bush has never stated (on the record) that he supports a draft, even with the dwindling enlistment numbers. get your facts straight. i think it would be pretty damn cool to send the troops pictures of dead bodies. funny how there were millions of people like me during the vietnam war when most of the soldiers were drafted, and theres like 5 other people on this forum during this war when the army is an all volunteer army. illogical sheeple.
I have too much... and no bowl at the moment, but that's coming x-mas. I think I'm going to get a personalized... or possibly a bubbler. Missing the male piece on a bong. It's been gravities only and other peoples bowls lately.
Ahahaha... dude, maybe I really should hit you up if I head to canada this Summer or something. lmfao. WHY IS THIS SO DAMN FUNNY. help.
And I'll think of him everytime I fill up my car for 10 cents a litre less than it should be. Explain to me how free college justifies going to another country, killing their people, and taking their oil. This worst excuse of all shows how little importance you put on an Iraqi life...
Okay, here is my stance and then I am most likely going to quit replying to all your comments reffering to how I am wrong for not hating my fellow human beings. You are right, there were a lot of people like you in the 60's protesting 'nam. I don't support the crap THEY did either! I support the people who protested at the mall (place in washington, not the place that has Sears and JC Penny) shouting "Hey Hey LBJ how many kids did you kill today?" Not shouting at the soldiers calling them baby killers and stuff. You know in the 60's a lot of soldiers came home to BECOME protesters!!! Not because of people calling them baby killers, but because of people saying "send the troops home!". My point behind stating that the soldiers are brainwashed was that they need people to help ENLIGHTEN them! I wouldn't listen to someone who said judgemental statements about me, I would ignore them. Anyone would. I would however, more likely listen to someone who cared to understand me, who wasn't fighiting against me, who would try to help me, and all that. I know that at least 99% of other people would feel the same way... But that is it. I am not going to keep arguing with any of you about that... Beleive your way. Fine, I don't care. It is your life. But you aren't doing anything for the anti-war effort by doing nothing but showing soldiers how much you hate them. But I will just try to spread enough love for the both of us.
