Ashes from a log that burned Rubble in the place where once Some children learned Dust to dust This could be one of us Great empires that rose and fell Once mighty strong but now Of their remains not much to tell From dust to dust They were like us A civilization built on greed So many hungry mouths Yet only few allowed to feed They too end up as dust Not unlike us The earth continues to revolve While on its surface Humans struggle to evolve As dust evolves to dust And so we must Great drama this, the plight of man Full of importance, Full of plans, Mere seconds pass from birth to death A story captured in a breath Upon the wind the dust will blow When all is quiet on the earth below Despite our biggest, loud Kaboom We will expire awefully soon And life will travel here once more Through other doors, on other shores, Through avenues as yet unknown Perhaps through species Not too much unlike our own Yet too, will they end up as us From dust to dust to dust. ~bluesafire
