Fuck trichomes, they don't get you high.

so my friend Harold and I were getting high in my garage, and I got this sweet ass white russian.

I drop a small nug on the floor which is rather gross (it's a garage, after all), so I pick it up and look at it to make sure there's no crap hanging off of it.

So Harold says, "dude, burn it"(to burn the dirt off)

Then i'm like, "no way, i'll burn all the trichomes off."

then he's like, "Fuck trichomes, they don't get you high. The thc is in the green stuff."

So I'm like " woah who the fuck told you that?"

he's liek, "it's common knowledge, they're only there to make you cough and be sticky. why would i get high off of resin if the trichomes is what gets you high?"

My jaw dropped.

I don't know who the fuck he's been talking to, but we're both 29 and have been best friends and smoking weed together for 11 years. This statement made me want to jump up and smack that weed out of his hands and not let him smoke any of it.

All parts of the plant contain the same amount of THC by weight...tricoms, buds, stems, roots 'n all.

Ever notice how even a giant bag of stems weighs very little?
Stems contain very little resin, which is where the THC lies.

Trichomes are resin glands. They contain THC and are found all throughout the plant for the most part. The highest concentration is going to be on the inside of the buds.

 

Well in a world where this stuff is illegal I am not surprised some people believe this kind of stuff. Very easy for bad information to be spread. Rather then being an Obama and judging who is worthy of smoking, why don't you not judge your friend and teach him. Someone had to teach you everything you know right? Pay it forward.

All cannabinoids are contained within the mushroom looking glands called trichomes. These glands cover all of the outside of the plant, except the roots, in differing densities with stems being the least densely covered and the flower buds having the densest covering of trichomes.

There are no THC containing resins inside the plant, just water containing starches and sugars mostly. One of the main reasons for this belief of the resins being inside comes from the very age old practice of hanging the plants upside down to dry. We have all heard at one time or another it was so the resins would flow to the tops.
Nope, they would hang the plants upside down because as they dry the large fan leaves curl around the buds and form a protective cocoon around the more precious flower buds for handling and transport.

Kief is sieved and collected trichomes.
Hashish is compressed Kief (traditional hash).
Hash/honey oil is the chemically extracted resins and is the closest you will get to pure THC/cannabinoids.

i watched a youtube vid once of a guy using a grinder and then i dont remember what he did exactly but it separated the good trichome stuff and he made it into litttle tablets of hash

Unfortunately a lot of (most?) drug users are pretty ignorant about the drugs they use. It's like those people who think mushrooms are a poison that erodes the lining of your stomach, or your brain, and "that's what makes you trip".
