The phrase 'gaian intentiality' is a term that specifically came from McKenna, but what he is reffering to with it I know very well from personal experience.

The 'gaian intention', essentially what the earth wants. The intention of gaian concioussness. But whenever I trip I feel like I experience this intention incredibly clearly, just sort of emanating off the earth. Almost like a gravity, except instead of pushing into the earth, it's pushing up out of the earth. Like the gravity of life, that pushes the trees up and pushes all the animals around, and pushes all the people around and pushes them up into building structures and shooting themselves into space. Like it's almost an energy wave, you can almost see.

And as I pay attention to it going through myself, I can sort of talk with myself but essentially talk with it. I was even floating in my mandalic hyperspace yesterday and said 'what do you look like' and to my amazement, a highly ornate geometric face pushed out of the mandala. Very comforting at the same time, the feeling of this intention is incredibly comfortable however it manifests or however I interact with it. I can even sort of go back and forth with it like it's a separate voice of my own. Which it's different from hearing just voices, I can get to hearing voices on marijuana too, or whatever, or just meditation, if I focus on it. You know, just like talking to other things in dreams. But theres something to this earth voice that makes it notably different. It's profoundly comfortable.

But the thing is, my time spent with it yesterday (on shrooms), I got the incredibly apparent intuition that it really does not like cities. That it really wants people to go into cities and defuse them essentially, break them down, or rework them into sustainability, or something, I don't even know if the 'sustainable' movement in construction is enough. But that the earth, the forests or whatever are looking very negatively upon the cities and it's like of the utmost importance to rework everything with this gaian intention. And that much of cities are going to get defused in coming years.

I'm curious, does anyone else feel as intertwined, and interact with this thing, whatever it is, the same way as me?

the world would probably be better off if everyone lived in cities and there were no sprawling areas of human civilisation htat require tonnes of fuel to transport across

the gaian intentionality is something we percieve.. but it doesnt necessarily have to be something of an external consciousness

if everyone was self sufficient or lived in sustainable farming villages then there would be less need for fuel transport etc..

a city can be sustainable, probably moreso than a farming village, because most people can live in the cities leaving huge areas to grow crops on and harvest solar energy

I remember reading this quote by some sort of scientist, Ill have to paraphrase, but he said he spent so much time trying to compare the earth to a living organism, but he couldnt. The Earth is far to complex, with each part working independently to be one organism. Then he realized that it isnt an organism, its a cell, a single cell working perfectly on a huge scale. Thats how I like to think of it, the Earth is alive and working consciously for its own preservation. The interesting part of that analogy is that the human race is a cancer in the cell. We grow out of control, and destroy the healthy Earth for our cities. I think things like cancer and AIDS are the antibodies for the Earth. I think the growing increase of natural disasters on major cities may be a kind of population control.

I definitely feel this consciousness, I always called it the Force, for lack of a better term. Ive always sensed some energy web, between every living thing, when I trip I can see it sometimes. I think at some point, humans could see it and feel its presence, but increased exposure to inorganic materials has made it to where we can only sense physical objects. I suspect animals can sense it, horses and dogs are known to experience precognition, and they just seem more comfortable with their world. Who knows? I can say for sure that any time Ive felt the Gaian presence, Ive felt very, very content with my place in life and on Earth.

Ah, the damn measurement problem :) Spirit is more elusive than even fundamentals. Maybe because, She is THE fundamental? Hmmmm... The beginning always seems the most distant as we move closer to the end. Only to show us that it's a circle!

im gonna have to agree with you here. i hate to say it but humanity is the cancer on our planet. i think about this kind of stuff way too much when im trippin puts me in a bad head space. during one of my trips during the past year i watched like a 2 hour special about global warming/ human impact blah blah blah. it was pretty horrific but i think that if everyone had the experience i did we would turn this shit around real quick

Humanity is no more a cancer than plants are. We just havent learned yet how to collectively take energy from the Sun directly, rather we used trapped compressed Sun light known as fossel fuels.
Dont give up hope, anyone who says all of humanity is a cancer is as dumb as death metal. The answer is evolution.

Humanity is a cancer insofar as you consider the rest of the globe to be the 'proper' functioning organism.
we can just as much imagine humanity to be cancer as we can imagine it to be the single proper organism amongst a forest of diseases. But it is clear to some of us that the order present in teh rest of nature is far superior to that developed by humans..

However, it's the transportation of the food from the growing areas and the inablility of our insufficient power grid to carry power over long distances that limits the sustainability of this. I think that small, self sufficient communities with an overall drastically lower human population is the easiest sustainable model of human civilization.
