I think someone from Will&Grace is gay (although I find ¾ of the cast to be vile and repugnant). The neighbor on Married With Children is a lesbian... so is one of othe four actresses in Sex and the City.
I don't actually seek rôle models based on their being gay. Character and integrity are enough.

 

I didn't particularly, I just thought people like John Cage and William Burroughs were cool anyway. I only found out Cage was gay about a year ago. It just kinda made me wonder if there's anyone like that still around. I mean, I know most people would still look up to whoever they found most attractive, but still.

 

I wouldn't exactly call them "roll models" but Chad Allen (kid in Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman) and Lance Bass. Both because they are in the "main stream" media.

Lance Bass because he held off coming out so as not to interfere with the other members of the group livelyhood. not that I listend to their music I just appreciated the fact he took his bandmembers lives and livelyhood ahead of his own. I can respect that.

Similar thing came up in my Pop class. Someone was rambling on about how good a role model Beth Ditto (The Gossip) is to lesbians. Far as I can tell, the way that works is "okay, so you're a horrendous stereotype", but if you dress for shit no-one will notice". Mate of mine has met her, apparently she's borderline retarded.
