i like this movie. its pretty damn good man. but i bet when he is fighting the guy at the end who was retired for 5 years and is about to kill him ( even though he doesnt) i bet that guy was thinking, god damn, i never should have come out of retirement. and if some guy was talking to me about how my kid was screaming while being nailed to a cross and my wife got raped, i would fucking kill him right there.he has some good temper control

Great film, great perfromances, great effects and great soundtrack. Oliver Reed's last performance (they had to use an extra to complete his scenes). Also the late Richard Harris as the Emperor, and for those who appreciate theatre, Derek Jacobi. Russel Crowe immortalizes the role of the general, who became a slave, who killed an emperor.

Ridley Scott shows his experience as a director with no expense spared. Lots of action and plenty of drama. It's worth seeing the extra features on the DVD for deleted scenes (there's about 10).

The film is actually littered with hundreds of mistakes, but that makes it even more of a classic.

For example, in the begining when the Romans fight the Goths(?) in Germania, there's a scene where if you pause, you can see 3 legionaires laughing their ass off whilst everyone else is fighting mayhem around them.

Later on, you can see the denim of a cameraman whose leg gets in the way.

Still, the film is spectacular and was worth all the fuss they made about it in the press when it came out.

    Strength and Honor.

I love the part when he grabs the two swords and slices that guy's head off.

a great epic movie. great production with battle scenes, and a flowing scenario. I always love the historical films, because watching a recreation of ancient times is a great influence for questioning modern society, and reminding that people could live without electricity, TV, and internet.:)

I saw this on a bad night. I felt bad. I didn't want to hear all that noise. I ended up leaving the room and letting my husband finish it while I read. I have nights like that sometimes.

For me, I tried to watch this on a bad night. Therefore it was simply loud and irritating. I eventually got a book instead.

I loved this movie, though it was so sad. I loved the visions of heaven. I'm sure there is a certain name for the ancient Greek heaven though...I can't think of it right now :/

After I free'd my mind it's hard for me to watch movies with constant fighting in them. I tried to see 300, but just couldn't stand it. It was like watching a Bush propaganda fillm for the war

I love the part where Crowe's friend (the African man) buried the mini statues of Crowe's wife and child and he said something like, "We will meet again..but not yet. Not yet"

I love movies set in this era. HBO's Rome was also excellent.

The best movie of the 21st century so far. I absolutely loved it all the way through. The best storyline i've ever witnessed.
