This is a slightly unothrodox view, and I'm not about to tell you McDonald's is the best thing since tomato sauce. My view is very much long term, and it has to do with us as a human race. It is my belief that we, as humans, have to find a way to get off this planet and expand our 'galactic empire' as soon as possible. It obvious we cannot stay here forever, we're going to overpopulate, use resources and one day the Sun won't even let us stay here. We have to get off the planet. Globalisation, in my view, should be the process by which all humanity recognises itself as one species that needs to survive. In order to do this, a common philosophy/sense of a common purpose needs to be spread on a global scale. This is my globalisation. Now, the current view of globalisation is economic and geopolitical, a sort of us vs them mentality. In my view, this is a GOOD thing. Why? Because humanity needs to struggle for the common purpose. Humanity needs to work out the best way forward, and we're not going to drink tea and ponder over it, we need to struggle. What of globalisation today? Well, globalisation is often considered to be 'Americanisation', that is the spreading of American values and interests on a global scale. Now I'm English, but I do think American hegemony represents the beginning of my globalisation. I don't think in terms of America vs Everyone else in the long term. In my opinion, many of the American values such as freedom, right to self determination etc etc are good values, but they are currently not being applied properly. That is why we must struggle for them. I dislike socialism and communism. This is because, in my opinion, the struggle for our existence depends on creativity. Like it or not, socialism and communism restrict the room or creativity and ingenuity, as they lead to social inequality. I think current globalisation is not ideal, no, but it is a start and the leftist solution is the wrong way for galactical expansion. It is wrong that people live on less than $2 a day, indeed, but this will not alter via the leftist alternative. I keep using the word, but the struggle for the idea of a free and creative humanity must be the focus of 'fine tuning' globalisation, not dividing bread into equal portions. If we adopt these basic ideas, then our technological and philosophical advance to a 'human empire', if you will, will be greatly sped up. I'm not talking about subjugating aliens, I'm talking about the colonisation of distant solar systems, nay galaxies, to ensure our survival. The time may be nearer than we think, we may be doing a lot of damage to Earth, probably not in our lifetime. I say, globalisation is good. The current method of globalisation is bad, as it focuses on interest-groups rather than humanity, and only through struggle will we create the ideal globalised society that ensures our future, and this will take centuries more to achieve (the bipolar world of the USA and China will slightly hinder this process). Some may think I'm crazy, maybe I am in modern eyes, but I don't think I am, I think I want humanity to survive....
Hello I agree with humans having to expand their empire into space. It will be the best thing to happen to man kind since we figured out the world wasn’t flat.
In terms of solving the "overpopulation" problem: Interstellar colonization seems overly complex to say using making birthcontrol free.
That is totally true that we have to go to another planets, but i would not be so worried about that. We have to do it after many years so it's not the most important thing now, but someday.... But before we can leave this crazy planet we have to: Live in peace and love... We have to work AND LOT! We have to find new knowlege about everything. (science) So we have to get lot's of things to do... But i don't know is the greatest way to get those things as american people do it... I would say that we have to be without nations when we have to leave this planet, so we have to have system what is really great. I would say that when that time is when we have to leave we should be like socialistic country... (or something like that) Why? Because in socialism we work for the country... Not for ourselves... And when we have no countries we work for whole mankind... But i have to say that i don't believe in socialism... But when we have to leave this place we have to be socialistic (or like it) world...
Globalisation is good and bad. When the Chinese closed its door to the external world, their people suffered in the end. Globalisation can open new market and more jobs opportunities and this is good. __________________ devices exercises patches pills men's health
Did you read my post? It had nothing to do with what you just said. I assume you didn't. Thanks to those who read it and commented appropriately. Some good points from ippi - yes we're a long way of and we have time. My point is that this 'imperfect' globalisation - brought by an unwillingness to let everyone play on the same level - is a start towards 'perfect' globalisation, by which we act as a species. I think once everyone gets the chance to compete equally, peace will come behind that. Most war is caused by inequality. However, we have a long struggle ahead, for one global accepted mission must be agreed upon if we are to move into space, and this will take time to apply. The struggle will hopefully be philosophical, but as with most human nature it'll mostly come through the barrel of a gun.
I don't agree with your idea that socialism creates inequality. Socialism is the exact opposite! It's getting rid of the barriers between classes, having no upper, middle or lower class. It's everyone working together and for each other. In the past of course this hasn't happened, in the past the greedy few have kept the others downtrodden and used them for their own profit. People like Stalin. The power and money has gotten to them. Of course some of these problems could be solved with the advent of AI. A ruling AI could keep socialism working as it would have no use for the money and likely be unaffected by the power it gained. Of course some AI may still be driven to seek more and more power, but I'd imagine it would be fewer than with humans. Of course all that is in the far future. In the mean time, I think it's inevitable that at least most of the world will fall under one power...but as the British Empire indicated, those who are being ruled over are always going to seek their own freedom and unique identity, they'll feel they're not equal, not free. Which is where some of the benefits of socialism come in. As it is there will likely come a point where socialism becomes the norm once more, as most things travel in circles, capitalism will begin to break down and socialism will start to gain power. Some of this will be non-violent, but there're still bound to be wars and civil wars. I seriously doubt that all of the human race will be united anytime soon, even when we expand into space.
Um, no. First of all, do not confuse communism and socialism, they are two different things. Communism is a political term, socialism is an economic term. Socialism actually leads to equality! It spreads out the riches of a society for all. What? You think capitalism is better? Now there is a system that leads to inequality if I ever saw one. Plus capitalism brings out the worse in everyone! All the seven deadly sins can be found in capitalism. With capitalism one is more inclined to think about one's self first and the whole second. Socialism is the opposite.
Globalization is not good at all. We need to remain as sovereign nations, making our own rules. The more centralized power becomes, the easier it is for the few to control the many. The global elite wish to abolish national sovereighty and have us all answering to a world government. Not so good.
How does globalization equal communism?? What reason have you got for saying that? What explanation? (nb. I'm not having a go, I'm genuinely curious).
Galactical expansion....just imagine Bush and his oil buddies benefitting from that. Makes my head spin. Wonder if the other galactic world's out there are ready for American domination?
But even say I agree with that, we're not talking about the elimination of culture or free thought. Even in one country, take the UK, there are many different cultures represented. Just because we're all ruled by one governmant in one country doesn't change that we have unique cultures, or that we have free thought.
what is not good is the making everything HAVE to begin and end with little green pieces of paper model. whatever is good, bad or indifferent about anything else, it IS motivating priorities that are directly threating to the very web of life, all life, including our own depends on. and that's not the only thing it seems to be in the proccess of destroying. i want humanity to survive too. and right now, what looks to me like the biggest threat to it's doing so is fanatical global corporate 'capitolism'. again, whatever the shortcomming and inequities of anything else. and certainly not to deny them either. though without having to exagerate the point. =^^= .../\...
I still don't give humans more than 100 years before we are extinct. Shit, we're killing just about every anuimal out there. I bet in 20 - 30 years there are no more wild animals, they will only be found in captivity at zoos.
Globalisation is good for everyone. It helps nations grow and benefits individuals. Most govenrments can not provide what MNC do for their people
