    Hi,
Has anyone ever been to the Caribbean on a cruise, or just been to any of these places:
st Lucia, st marteen, Barbados, Antigua, Jamaica or Tobago.
Does anyone know how strict they actually are in these countries for me to have some fun :sifone::ssmokeit: is it actually real about this or is it a myth.
also if anyone has ever been on a cruise, do you have to stick with a group on a shore excursion, or are you allowed to sneak off so to speak, i'd rather not be with a group of randomers.
    sorry to seem so clueless.
any help will be greatly appreciated.

I've taken a couple cruises before, once to the Grand Caymens, and Jamaica, and another to Cozumel and Key West. The first cruise, to the Caymens and Jamaica was beautiful. I've heard a story where a guy got off the cruise at the Caymens before, and there were dogs at the port, and got a whiff of weed on him, he didn't have any on him, but he had 2 joints in his safe in his room that they found, and he had gotten incarcerated in the island. :x But when I went, there were no dogs to greet us. And the next day, we made it to Jamaica, and yes, there were group tours and what not, but my mom got a solo tour for just her and I to go to Bob Marley's house at 9 mile, which in my opinion was probably a lot funner than the normal group tour. The normal group tour had a giant rasta bus for everyone, but we got our own personal taxi, with a crazy local who drove all over the roads, and he offered to smoke with us, but my mom's too conservative. :p But we got to 9 mile, and not even 10 minutes of me being there, a guy came up to me and offered me a joint. If you're traveling with heads, and not a conservative mom, they would defiantly smoke you up. I even was able to get the joint back onto the cruise ship by putting it in my bra. No big deals. And my second cruise, I had a little tank top on under neath my shirt, and the tank top had a little pocket in it, which I put a little bud in. There was plenty of apples on the cruise, so we made an apple bowl every night, followed by an amazing little snack. :) I'm sure you'll be fine to bring a little on. And get a room with a balcany, if anything. So you have a safe place to smoke. My brother and I had to smoke on public decks, so it was a little scary.. Or if anything, you'll find someone with a room with a balcony to smoke on. Good luck with everything, and be sure to do a little research on the places and their laws before anything though.

But you also don't even have to do anything on the islands! You can just check them out yourselves, do your own thing, or set up your own group, for yourself, or whoever it may be. :)

Took a cruise earlier this year, first ever, went to Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Toked up in Mo Bay. To be honest, Jamaica freaked me out badly enough that I will stay on the boat if there's a next time. I had never been outside the US before except for Canada, and apparently I'm just too dumb/naive to be a world traveler type. So dumb I wore my brightest tie dye... talk about marking myself as a sucker...

In short, I was very nervous and fell prey to the beach dealers... in a matter of minutes I had way too much of several things way too fast, and spent most of my time on Negril Beach with the spins, holding onto the beach trying not to fall off the planet. The dudes who sold me stuff made sure I didn't drown (scares me to think what could have happened), but also talked me out of every penny I had in return for some buds. All the while armed uniformed military looking dudes stood nearby- it was like the security forces were protecting the drug trade. The selling was extreme high pressure and I feel myself almost shaking just to remember it.

Ended up walking back onto the boat carrying a small amount, terrified of dogs... still so high I felt unsteady on my feet... they patted me down and the guard even patted the bag of weed at my crotch... and then motioned me forward. I think that was the most scared I have ever been in my life. I will never again carry the sacred herb onto a cruise ship... the terror every step of the way wasn't worth it. I was so worried and hung over... took me a day just to feel okay again.

The only reason I even did that is that I didn't want anyone in our group getting in trouble, so I convinced everyone to NOT even try to find any... and decided I'd be the hero. As it turned out, everyone we knew brought back a bag also, and then the biggest problem was getting it all smoked up before getting back to the states. For that, apple plus balcony and only while at sea while being dead silent.

My post speaks more about me and my lack of experience than about Jamaica and its people. The cruise was about a thousand times more fun than I had ever imagined (sitting at the very front of the ship at 3am blasting into the warm night air, incredible) but if I do it again next time I'm not going ashore. Toking on a cruise is about as sweet as life can get though... but get caught and your life could be over. Glad I did it, equally certain I will never put myself through that terror again.

Only one of our group (about two dozen of us) ran into real trouble- he was trying to buy weed off a cab driver, but the driver said to get in to do it. He did, and the cabbie took off and wouldn't stop, wouldn't let him out. No door release on the inside. He did manage an escape but was pretty shaken up, and he's a pretty tough young dude who has family elsewhere in Jamaica.

Stayed on boat for Grand Cayman. Cozumel felt safe and comfortable, took a cab to a beach and drank. YMMV.

I think I will hold off on cruising until Washington state's legalization works its way through the system. I'd love to take an official Ganga Alaska Cruise out of Seattle or something someday.
