Now what's all this about Facebook being a big winner in the Golden Globes awards? Oh yes, It was he Social Network's night: it won four of the six categories it was nominated in. As well as best picture, it scooped best director for David Fincher, best screenplay for Aaron Sorkin and best original score for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

How much do you want to bet there was a little bit of "payola" involved.

Ricky Gervais said it first. He seemed sincere when he said it, so I wondered, is the HFPA getting paid off?

Of course people watch these shows. Afterall, we're dealing with money hungry ego maniacs. They wouldn't get involved in something unless it lead to money and being told they are god's gift to the world.

So I'll wager that after Time magazine and their Facebook bullshit. That this "Social Network" movie is just another bunch of fuck to generate hysteria in a site that site that is, at best, a Myspace 2.0

It's really sad to see how the installation of the Big Brother state is being played out. Not even so much as a whimper of protest from the general public. Instead it's a mad hysterical mob jumping in line to be the first to give away their personal identities. Never forget that 7 of Facebook's top 10 clients all have a connection to either the CIA, NSA or the Pentegon.

the best movie i saw in 2010 was, '127 hours.'
    :2thumbsup: :cheers2:

there is this underground counter culture movie company in st. louis called wicked pixel cinema.
i just love their company logo; it is, "hollywood is a disease."

the academy awards and, the golden globes are just symptoms of that disease.

It's just another example of how they are marketing this site down our throats. Getting the fucking masses of idiots to give up not only their IPs but their personal information and photos attached to IPs.

Did you take the brown acid at Woodstock or are you really this narcistic?

Therefore let me try and explain it to you why I care? It's because of shit like this below.
Stupid ignorant masses not only cause problems for the non-idiots but innocent people also end up getting hurt or killed in the process.

voltaire said it best when he said the "masses are asses." Having said that, my point in regards to this awards ceremony and its obvious attempt at further marketing of Facebook to the hoards of imbeciles, is that it will suceed in getting more dummies to sign up to Facebook. And when a large enough percentage of the population is signed up, I'm going to have problems because I'll be considered "weird" for not having an account and updating my status each time I take a shit.

People should not have to be part of Facebook just so they can get a job because employers in the future will like being able to monitor the activities of their employees. And I also do not want to end up being investigated or considered a "threat" just because some governement agency can't buy my personal data from Facebook. (or some other Internet site)

Just because the ignorant masses don't have a problem telling the entire world if they wipe their asses from left to right or back to front. Doesn't mean I should have to. Unfortunately, those of us that have enough common sense are left trying to prevent the barbarian hoards of village idiots from giving away their rights and freedoms if we want to preserve our own. (And in the above news story, to protect the innocent)

if you can connect this incident with the golden globe awards then perhaps you need professional help

    [not perhaps]

and my supposed narcissism has nothing to do with anything - you are the one who is constantly spewing your hatred of "the masses", it's frankly elitist and should make anyone question your motives

edit: i think i'm misunderstanding you - you don't actually want to help anyone

you just want everyone to think like you

    good luck with that . . .

Oh fucking hell. You really don't give a shit about anyone or anything except your own bearded ass.

So I'll try and explain it to you in simple logic.

It's marketing. The entire movie and the awards it received are just fucking marketing. Marketing is defined by the American Marketing Association (AMA) as "the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. Marketing is a product or service selling related overall activities.

So the movie, "Social Networking" is nothing more than a 90 minute infomercial. It was produced not for any kind of good samaritan or humanitarian reason. It was produced to get people to sign up to Facebook. (Can you imagine if Myspace or Twitter had produced a movie how everyone would have laughed? Let me ask, how is the film "social networking" any different?)

As for the "awards" they are nothing more than more marketing done so that
    1) More people will sign up to Facebook and
    2) get people to go see a 90 minute infomercial and pay for the opportunity to do so.

As for your "thinking like me" comment.
I don't give a flying fuck if you think like me or not. As long as you're actually "ThInKiNg".

So yes, I can connect this incident with the awards. It's the same fucked up and stupid people that refuse to engage their brains and allow themselfs to get caught up in this "mass hysteria" bullshit for Facebook that end up being on the fucking site updating their "status" while their kid drowns in a bathtube.

You know I probably do more in an hour to help others and this world than the average american does in a lifetime. So let me offer some kind advice, I suggest that you shave off your beard. Because you appear to be suffering from oxygen depravation, as is evidenced by your inability to *ahem* "connect the dots."

Since Ricky Gervais started hosting the Golden Globes (last year and this) it's become Must-See TV. He's the funniest, most sarcastic SOB in any media. And the people he's shredding are sitting there right in front of him, laughing their asses off. They aren't all uptight like they are at the Oscars. They're sitting around tables knocking back the booze and having a blast.

It was a fun show. If they let Ricky host again next year (not a sure thing after this year - apparently some Hollywood noses are out of joint) I'll watch it again.

The Social Network if anything was made for the fact everyone is already on facebook, not to get more people on facebook.

    who's the narcissist again?

the sheep need a shepherd, you merely want to replace the current one

who are you to make anyone think if they don't want to? and what makes you think they aren't already thinking and that thy've decided they like facebook and whatever other evils you perceive in the world?

me, i hate the internal combustion engine, cruelty to animals, processed food [gmo or not] and all popular culture [not just a movie or two]

if other people like those things, that's their business - i can only assume that most people behave that way because they want to

[based on 50 years of interaction with "the masses"]

    i know i'd be a lousy shepherd

you think you'd be a good one

    i beg to differ . . .
