How would you determine good from evil? All it really is, is just an misunderstanding of another. To one, somehting that is considered "bad" to another might in fact be morally just. Maybe the bad is the misunderstanding, let people be people and stop trying to imposs your beliefs onto another, because if we all did that the fighting would never stop, seems to me its what we are doing now. Maybe laws are made by thouse people who want to controll and tell you what to do? Now, I'm not saying get rid of laws, but there is a fine line, so someone tell me it i don't believe i have that wisdom yet. if you think you have the answer to good and evil please tell me.
I think the qualities of good are peace, happiness, love, joy exc, things we enjoy. bad has qualities of hate, misery, despair exc.
so to this one person the happiness he recives is by killing ahh lets say all native americans, it will bring him joy and happiness to see all of that race gone. does it make it good?
you say 'to ths one person' How is that morality? Morality is a 'social stance witin a species.' not one fools desire to kill anything that moves cause it makes him/her feel good. Power to the ego horror. Monsters from the id Occam
well i didnt mean the one person, i mean anyone of that nature. but see, even i would probably consider someone like that an evil person, but how do i know that?
How DO YOU know that? You just said you would consider such 'evil' Answer your own question and the question is answered. Occam
Ignorance, if anything is undeniably "evil" it has to be ignorance. You can't get pleasure in killing others without ignorance. You can't support or ignore the genocide of millions without ignorance. You can't let this world go to waste, because "God has a plan or God can fix anything", without ignorance. Popular religions thrive on it, It's the bad side of human nature. It shelters fragile minds from reality, the ever growing dark reality that it ironically helps to create. It will eventually lead to the demise of all mankind, the self destructive lies we tell ourselves.
I don't believe in any true evil. I don't think it exists, I think different perspectives, and possibly mental disorders exist. I see the OP's point. BTW, along with that... what I think might be a "good deed", is something that someone else might see as incredibly pointless, or even "bad" Like, if I give a homeless person $5 dollars, some would say I did good thing, and others would say that I made a fool of myself, because he might go and buy harmful drugs with that $5. (Flimsy example, I know, but I couldn't think of anything better at the moment) "Good and evil" are moral opinions... all in the eye of the beholder...except, many of us share generally the same idea of what is morally right or wrong..and that's how people have come up with the conclusion of what is good and bad. But society's ideas of what is good or bad, may be completely different from what an individual sees as good or bad.
the causing of their suffering is DOING an 'evil' thing. that doesn't mean or require for there to be any such thing as BEING evil, or even good. =^^= .../\...
yes to themnax, annd... No I dont think it derives from being bad or evil, I think it derives from having some sort of mental issue. Do I agree with killing? NO. But I don't agree with it, because for the most part, I'm mentally stable. And no, I don't consider those with severe mental issues, "evil" Can they be helped? Most, maybe not... not in today's world anyways. There's still much to be learned. But, that doesn't mean their (killers, etc) hearts are black, or that they can't feel love.
Good and Evil are religious connotations to words which truly mean "harmful" or "beneficial". Thus, to me, what is TRULY "good" is anything which promotes nature (the environment) and the welfare of humanity. Freedom, Justice, Compassion, Peace, Love, etc. are all tenets of "good" and the lack of these or attacks on these traits are "anti-good" and thus, "evil" (if you will). That's just my take.
you could argue evil is a manmade concept if you were to look at basically any animal. they don't go and do what people would consider "evil" they just live on instinct to stay alive and procreate.
That's the problem. What is good or evil? And who determines that? It's a matter of opinion, really. Me disbelieving existence of a god, may be evil in some peoples' eyes, but it isn't in mine. Generally, people WILL see eye to eye on what is good, and what is bad, but it isn't fact. Fact does not apply to good and bad. Good and bad are words used with opinions, for example "This tea is good"--whereas some people might think it's terrible. If the general population thought that blue was the best color, does that make blue the best color? No. This discussion is kind of a dead end, because everyone is going to have their opinions. Some people can justify killing countless deer, rabbits, bears, etc. but are anti-abortionists. So again, evil/bad is SIMPLY and SOLELY an opinion.
Apples has a point. For example, I would think it "GOOD" to have wild and ravaging sex with her. She, on the other hand, may find this "EVIL" and reject it wholeheartedly.
Libertine You had to blow it didnt you. Shes talking sense and your hearing with your dick. Ddnt you notice the term 'LADY" ??? Occam
Apples And that is morality in a teacup..lol Why do most people see 'eye to eye' on moral questions..? Well a variety of teas wil not harm anyone. But a knife in the throat will illicit the same response from all AHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO No one wants some asswipe with a personality disorder to make his day by knifing you in the throat. Evil is the gratuitious trangression of inherent individual rights. By a psycho or a dictator think on this Kill one man , you are a murderer Kill a million, you are a king. Kill everyone, you are god. This is exactly how humanity works stalin said the same. 'one death is a tradgedy, a million is a satistic' Most gratuitous death in our times is caused by...KINGS. Occam
