I am researching to find a great pair of all-purpose hiking boots. Any suggestions?

Vasque makes awesome boots! My Sundowners lasted 1500 miles of my 2,000+ mile thru hike(end to end) of the Appalachian Trail. Check out the gear reviews in Backpacker Magazine(not sure of web address). Get Superfeet insoles. I wouldn't be without them.

    All good suggestions so far

Danner makes some nice boots, also

Sierra Trading Post has some good deals on outdoor equipment. I usually go to a store to try on different things first, then order from their website. Their stores are in Nevada and Wyoming.

Check out Cabela's, they have a huge selection of boots. Thats where I got mine and they are still working great.

May i suggest, especially with hiking boots, that you try on a number of different pairs to find the best fit before either buying or ordering online.

All the brands mentioned are good boots, but they may just not fit you right, in which case they'll be useless.

I've had a pair of 30 dollar hiking boots that were more comfortable(read; better) than some 400 dollar boots I've tried.

It's all really about fit. The best quality in the world doesn't mean anything if it rubs your heal wrong or something.

    Just my 2 cents

    "Wolverine"'s are cheap yet comfortable...

And theres a company that makes Cowboy Boots. I forget the name...

By the way. Lace. That's a GREAT Avatar you got there!

Don't buy boots - go barefoot.

Hiking barefoot is by far the best alternative.
