a lot of the american posters on hip seem to have a problem with their home state 'get me out of blah blah blah', so i wanna hear what's awesome about the states you're all from. educate me x
Connecticut is nice...IF you can afford it. If you don't mind the occasional risk for a hurricane or a Nor'easter, which is usually a big snow or rain storm which tracks north and east up the Atlantic coast during the winter, than it's OK. We're home to the state which has the wife of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon running as a Republican for the US Senate. Really. Being halfway between New York City and Boston is cool when it comes to baseball and American football. The two cities hate each other!
I live in Kentucky .We are the bourbon capital of the world .My town is Bardstown .We are the only ones allowed to make bourbon .Wild Turkey ,Jim Beam , Makers Mark ,Heaven Hill Booker Noe ,Knob Creek , all made here .Also , Abraham Lincoln was born about 7 miles from my house . We know how to party in Ky .We have the Kentucky derby ,Bourbon Festival etc .I wouldn't want to live anywhere else except in the knobs of Ky .Note to self : Apply for job at tourist bureau .
The problem with Connecticut, however, is that, when people mention our state, they think we're all rich and stuffy. That is very true if you're in Fairfield County (the southwestern corner of the state) and the Farmington River Valley to the west of Hartford. Go the north end of Hartford at any time of the day or north of downtown New Britain at night and you'll see how hood we can get. They call my city Hard Hittin' New Britain for a reason. It's got nothing to do with our minor league baseball team, unfortunately.
Unfortunately. I've seen cops cuffing a guy across the street here at 9:30 AM a few days ago. I feel so safe.
south carolina has a very diverse group of rednecks. also, our political stage keeps jon stewart laughing every night on the daily show. stephen colbert is from sc actually. so is that guy from hootie. the south carolina marsh and low country is one of the most beautiful places in the world. besides greenville, columbia, charleston, and myrtle beach the state is pretty much rural so we have a lot of natural beauty
plenty of negative things about texas, but here's a few good ones: because of the texas stereotypes, alot of people try to be less ignorant. homeschooling is popular. easier than most states to keep your child from being vaccinated. lack of arrogance in our general accent. everything's bigger. austin.
I want to visit Texas someday. A friend here recommended me against Dallas but suggested that Austin would, literally, be quite the trip.
Austin is one of the best cities in America. It is the best that I have personally experienced in my life time. Dallas doubled their police force budget a few yrs back, in addition to an already intolerant culture. Your friend seems to know what he/she is talking about.
I like being on two of the Great Lakes, the Allegany and Adirondak mountains. Great weather and great food.
