    Hey friends.

I'm trying to choose a festival to attend next summer that honors and highlights the Grateful Dead with some awesome performances. Originally, I was looking at the Grateful Garcia Gathering. But now I'm beginning to have second thoughts.

Does anyone have any feedback on the atmosphere of this particular festival or any other suggestions that would be worth my while.

    Peace & Positive Vibes.:)

If I could go to one fest right now it'd be Langerado. You'd get your Dead fix w/ Phil & Friends and DSO, and you'd get the most bestest lineup I've seen at one fest in a long time...

Seriously, have you seen the lineup for Langerado yet!?!

i've heard that Grateful garcia gathering is a beautiful, smaller fest (in my home state actually). but if you want and all - out party with four nights of DSO, check out Grateful Fest at Nelson ledges. believe its in July. i haven't been but my buddies went last year and said it was ridiculous(ly good that is).

ive been to past 3g - great time, its at the same location hookahville is at every year in colombus, OH this year,.... nice location, plus the dead played there before. i dont know where your from or how far your willing to travel, but if your near - theres a great dead related fest. at nelson ledges (not to far from youngstown, oh) - both a great time, but if you have to choose one over the other. i would probably aim for nlqp. jerry bash in terra alta, wv (little over an hour south of pittsburgh, pa) also a great time. again if you can only choose one, thats the one i would aim for. you get a good bit of college kids from wvu, and alot of curious ppl and festie kids from the pittsburgh region (nelson ledges is like that too), but it has a large amount of older heads - then most other festivals these days. also if your in the area around the middle of july, there long strange trip, another annual dead related fest near pittsburgh, its one of my favortie festivals every year, its a very small one tho, alot of hardcore deadheads, and festie kids / wookies, thats mainly all you get there.

theres also langerado in south florida (big cypress - same location as Phish NYE 2000), as far as the larger fests go - it has one of the best lineups, most dead related too. not my favorite large festival, but it beats the hell out of bonnaroo and vegoose.

sorry for rambling, im ill today.... cough medicine got me going

definitely some great info. i originally chose the 3g's because i thought it was the closest to me....even though its still about 7 hours away. im from michigan, the west side on the lake. but that was before i was aware of grateful fest, which is equal distance. i guess the 3g's has yet to announce their headliner.

i might wait a bit longer before i make any committments yet...plus, the two friends that were suppose to head there with me, are beginning to back out. go figure.

i dont care, either way, i need my dead fix next summer! :)
any other info, is always appreciated. more choices then i had originally expected!

    peace & positive vibes.
