Well... I'm going to have a major test (in the form of my GF's family party) tommrow night, Sabado. I'm a little nervous but I think I'll be able to handle myself alright... or atleast to the point where they see that I'm atleast trying =p Anywhoo... I was wondering if anyone could list a few different compliments I could give her Parents (Preferably some form of a thank you for inviting me over, ect.) and my lady herself (Ways of saying how good she looks, ect.) I appolgize for this being such short notice... but you guys/gals have helped me before pretty quickly so I'm not too worried. Gracias!
For your GF's parents - "Gracias por invitarme a tu hogar" (Thank you for inviting me to your house ) and "Yo amo lo que has hecho a tu casa" (I love what you have done to your house) For your GF - "Amo lo que estás usando" (I love what you're wearing) and "Pareces hermoso hoy" (You look beautiful today) Hope that helps and good luck tomorrow Adios
Just a note: If you are saying this to her mother you will want to use a more formal (the Usted) form of Spanish. So, instead of saying "tu" you would say "su". Example: Gracias por invitarme a su hogar. The "tu" form would be used if you were talking to a close friend, a cousin, or someone your own age. This is actually VERY important. If you are just a beginner, it will not be a huge deal, but if you do use that form and you are a beginner, it will be super impressive. Also, you will want to get in the habit of using it when speaking to people you have never met before, people that are older than you and professors, bosses, etc. It will be expected from you once you are very fluent. Good Luck! Buena Suerte!!
