Oh yeah, Creedence's Susie Q is so great! Child in time is a great one too, but I also like to play the psychedelic songs of Deep Purple's 3rd album in a row. Some other greats: Free - Goin down slow Led Zeppelin - Dazed & confused Rainbow - Stargazer Ten Years After - Help me. Also try their version of Good morning, little schoolgirl and One of these days (5:50, quite lengthy right? )! Diamond Head - Sucking my love, I also recommend Helpless! Black Sabbath - A bit of finger/Sleeping village/Warning, WASP/Behind the wall/Nativity in black, Into the void, Hand of doom Blowback - Cosmic dust (listenable here: http://www.myspace.com/blowbackband ) Argonaut - Sixer (also 5:50 ) The Atomic Bitchwax - Gettin old, The formula (heavy, but great rock and guitarsolo's) Dozer - Lightyears ahead, High roller Dead Meadow - Good moanin' (listenable here: http://www.myspace.com/deadmeadow) Shovelhead - Red sky horizon, Total freedom (http://www.myspace.com/shovelheadnj) Country joe - Bass strings (especially the live version with the Bevis frond) Dust - From a dry camel Flower Travellin' Band - Satori Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile, Machine gun, Who knows, All along the watchtower Liquid Visions - Life child Quicksilver Messenger Service - Mona, and Who do you love indeed Ultimate Spinach - Ballad of the hip dead goddess Nebula - Smokin woman Greenleaf - Hexagram
Monkey wrench blues - Junior Brown. Heavily recommended, not like his usual stuff. Pure guitar blues for about ten minutes!
I like alot of the songs that got mentioned and.. anything on the Yes album Close to the Edge is great too ..
"Mukti" - The band is called two different things, either "John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, T.H."Vikku" Vinayakram, Hariprasad Chaurasia" or "Shakti". It's on the live album "Remember Shakti". The song is 1 hour and 3 minutes. It's like a trippy Indian fusion improv (with guitar). Its awesome though!
The original Tull outtake of "New day yesterday" is over 14' long! GREAT song.....that riff will stick in my mind FOREVER!
"Fat Angel" by Jefferson AIrplane live at the Fillmore East "Echos" - Pink Floyd's Meddle album "Mountain Jam " -Allman Bros. live from Ludlow's Garage
