what do you all think the greatest rock albums ever are.
they dont need to be in order but you can put them in order if you fee like it.
    imma go with
appetite for destruction- guns n roses
sgt peppers lonely hearts club band- the beatles
dark side of the moon- pink floyd
    morrison hotel-the doors
    the wall(both disks)- pink floyd
led zeppelin 4- led zeppelin (greatest album ever)
exile on main street- the rolling stones

they arnt in any order and im most deffinatly forgetting some but i think that led zeppelin 4 and appetite for destruction are the 2 greatest ever

good morning... what a nice question...
    i think, i`ll give it a try:

pink floyd - "the dark side of the moon"
the beatles - "The white album"
Genesis - "Selling England by the pound"
Genesis - "The lamb lies down on broadway"
    deep purple - "deep purple"
sam and dave - "sweet soul music" (great covers)
Jefferson Airplane - "surrealistic pillow" (unique atmosphere)
Böhse Onkelz - "Hier sind die Onkelz" (german rock, 1990)
Deep Purple - "Concerto for group and orchestra"

i will only name these 9, because i am sure, i forgot one and i will edit it later....

    Well, my five favourites are:

    1. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
    2. Electric Ladyland - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
    3. Amused To Death - Roger Waters
    4. Are You Expereinced - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
    5. Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd

'Sonic Temple' by The Cult has to come close, as does the Hendrix's 'Axis: Bold As Love', basically anything by Pink Floyd, 'Abraxas' by Santana, and loads of others.

It all depends on which kind of rock you like of course. Rock is such a huge music genre now. I mean, technically folk rock is rock as well, just like indie, classic, psychedelic, blues rock, hard rock.
There are so many different kinds of rock that makes it hard to decide which albums I should call the greatest.
I just picked the rock albums that I think has the greatest rock atmosphere. Rock 'n roll baby! The essential rock vibe which causes the feeling that you want to rock out. [IMG]

Atomic Bitchwax, the - 1999 - The atomic bitchwax
    Deep Purple - 1970 - In rock/1972 - Machine head
    Doors, the - 1967 - The doors
Diamond Head - 1980 - Lightning to the nations
    Greenleaf - 2001 - Revolution rock
    Jimi Hendrix - 1968 - Electric Ladyland
Nashville Pussy - 1998 - Let them eat pussy
    Nebula - 1998 - Let it burn
    Rainbow - 1978 - Long live rock 'n roll
Steppenwolf - 1968 - Steppenwolf but also their second, from the same year
Yardbirds, the - 1965 - For your love/Having a rave up with (kind of hard picking one album but they definately rock my socks, they just have to be on this list).

Me too, but this one rocks better. Stargazer gives me eargasms, but except for Tarot woman and Startruck it doesn't rock as good as Long live rock 'n roll's Kill the king, The shed, Gates of Babylon and of course the title song.

The greatest? That is very hard to decide. There are so many that I would choose.

Personally, these albums are a couple of my favorites:

"The Piper at the Gates of Dawn"-Pink Floyd
    "Ummagumma"-Pink Floyd
"In Through the Out Door"-Led Zeppelin
    "L.A. Woman"-The Doors
    "Revolver"-The Beatles
    "Aqualung"-Jethro Tull
    "Demons and Wizards"-Uriah Heep

There are many more, but I will save you the reading.

Well, my list still stands :). But somehow I forgot to put Sabbath's Master of reality on it. Of course that's not the only album them that should be on the greatest rock album list (same case with the Doors, among others). Slightly less brilliant, but while I'm at it I add Nashville Pussy - High as hell also on the list, 'cause it rocks just as superb as their debut.

Hate is a wasteful emotion, especially when God was created by man in Lou Reed's image.
