Guitar hero is killing music

I thought dance dance revolution was awesome, but in my opinion guitar hero and rockband are killing music.

Now-a-days Instead of little billy asking for a guitar for christmas he will ask for a guitar hero, and instead of wanting to grow up to be a musician little billy wants to grow up and push buttons, stairing at a TV

What if Slash, or Jimmi Paige bought a guitar hero when they were little and played that all day instead of a real guitar.

it's also overated and boring as fuck to watch. i got guitar hero 3 and unless your the one playing, i have no idea why people call it a party game. ya i agree with what you said to, as well as that, it also makes those songs on the game so annoying now whenever you listen to it on the radio.

second, i can agree with what your saying but i dont think its as extreme to where all possible great guitarist will never be discovered because there sitting at home playing guitar hero. if you want to play guitar, you'll play a guitar. i have been playing drums for almost 10 years now and iv played guitar hero and rock band a bunch of times, at no point have i wanted to play that game more than a real instrument.

 

You could say that about anything though. Little kids could be playing outside and getting exercise, but instead they are glued to the TV playing video games in general.

 

Actually its having the exact opposite effect. Kids are starting to pick up real guitars after being inspired by guitar hero.

and besides. Its just a game. Its not going to "kill music". It will fizzle out by the end of 2009 anyway

 

I wouldn't worry too much. The prevalence of driving games hasn't decreased people's desire to be NASCAR stars.

Now, if playing guitar hero got you free drugs and women... there might be a problem.

 

I agree with the point, but by supporting ddr, you lost all credibility. i mean what about the kids who spent hundreds of hours sitting there in a 4 square foot mat trying to tap their feet instead of going out and taking dance lessons. And like the poster above says, it will soon die out. When was the last time you heard someone talking about the new DDR game?

DDR is exercise. Why didn't you put this in the Whiners forum?

Children should have balance in their play. Video games = equals mental stimulation (and in some cases exercise), and playing outside = strong bodies for little boys and girls. There should be room for different kinds of entertainment.

Guitar Hero IS inspiring kids to be musicians. It's also getting them interested in all different kinds of music. And maybe that kid who got guitar hero did ask for a guitar, but his parents thought he was too young/didn't want to put forth the cash, so got him the game instead.

You boys need to chill out. It's JUST a game. Not a conspiracy.

 

Guitar Hero is a great game. Its not stopping future musicians, and if you get sick of a song becouse its in guitar hero then stop playing it. I for one like to hear the songs from guitar hero. Without guitar hero a lot of kids would never be exposed to all the great tunes from the games.

 

Haha DDR is awesome because Little Billy is being told to step his feet here and step his feet there while Guitar Hero sucks because it tells Little Billy to put his fingers here and strum his hand there?

People play it because it's fun. That's where it starts and ends. Because it's fun. Now if only Little Billy would stop playing that heathen Madden 08 and go outside and play foolsball.

Music already died a long time ago. Guitar hero is just one of the posthumous turds.

Its very sad but true. Just as a democracy is not a democracy if people are in it for money, music is not music if a musician isn't playing the music. Plenty of people play instruments, very few are actually meant to play those instruments. Music is meant for a lot of things, but not a way to be popular or famous or rich.

 

Up yours man, that game completes me, it inspired me to start playing my guitar again. and the trying to get all philosipher like with the jimmy PAGE stuff...its useless. and you sound like a fool. so. GUITAR HERO RULES. EXPERT BITCHESSSSSSSSSSS.

You have just inspired me to play guitar hero! I will drop my nice acoustic (just put some Nylon strings on it, it's acoustic-electric, it could be interesting) and proceed to spend a huge amount of money on all the Guitar Hero games. Hell, I'll even ask my parents for the money, I'm sure that they wouldn't mind contributing to something that will "comeplete(s) me".
