The most common comment I get is "Hey, nice hat."

Because my locks are of a very personal nature to me, I don't feel the need to share them with the general public.

Its usually the random people who i walk pace which give me compliments on my hair...

I hate school, we had this gathering things so the principal to tell us the rules and what not (i dont really listen, i dont paddle people, I just a hippie pot head) :p... But during the things there were these kids behind witch were tugging on my dreads, with out even asking. I just gave them the finger, because i dont like people touching me without asking (espically my hair because you dont know what kind of shit there going to put in there). I can stand the bad comments and i think they're funny sometimes, but sometimes they get annoying... The worest ones are teh ones where the guy is describing how people get dreadlocks and they are so ignorant about the whole process. Why dont they just come over to me and id be glidly to tell them how, if im not doing heavely into my work...

i usually get nice dreads, or i love ur hair, but i do get negativity too. like are u ganna redo those? OBVIOUSLY IM NOT!! haha and sometimes people at the mall or just generally in public will say, did u see her hair? or omg look at that girls hair. because my dreads are not very neat so all the materialistic girls and moms think im disgusting with not combing my hair and they tend to think im a dirty person. but really im not that dirty (much) haha.
-this past weekend when i went camping, some of the people there were asking me about them and asking when are you going to take them out? or wont that bother u when u have to cut all ur hair off or shave ur head? They dont understand that my life doesnt revolve around me looking good, i dont take long to get ready, im not materialistic at all. No matter how much negativity u get, always remember the positive and stay true to yourself by being yourself. if u love your dreads, then thats all that matters.

"I was talking to this guy, on the bus, and he told me that he used to have dreadlocks, and that people put peanut butter in there to make it all funky and knatted like that, and he told me about how people with their hair like that never wash or shower, and that they always have lice is that true?"

    Just ignore them!

Most people don't bother saying anything unless what they've got to say is positive. Sometimes I'll notice ppl giving me weird looks of interest or disgust, and I say fuck'em. It's not their business. And on the rare occasion somebody actually makes one of those shit comments, I can do anything from cursing them to reeducating them to laughing in their faces. But what's important is that I never, ever forget that I don't owe them some explanation for my hairstyle in order to justify my own life! :)

When I put my hair up, people call me Sideshow Bob... it's all in good fun, it's my friends that say it, I don't care.

My hair is kinda crazy, cause I went natural, so it's all sorts of different lengths, and widths, and everything, but I love em. Dreading is so... humbling. As someone said above, stay true to yourself, and no one else. Dreadies feel so, natural on me, it's awesome. Me lovey da dreadieeee

At school I usually get "haha look at her hair" while they try and grab my dreads.
The other day a woman in Lush was telling me about how her flatmate uses wax in his dreads and I said I didn't use it, she looked amazed and said "but how do they stay in??" and I just said "knots!"

Woo first post on this forum!

Immature. Just ignore them. You're bigger, and smater than him. Don't stoop to his level. That's just showing your ignorance.

I get two kinds of reactions: from people who understand, and from people who don't.

People who don't understand, like my mom and grandma (bless them), say stuff like "Oh my god it's knotty!" My grandma says stuff like "You're never gonna be able to undo it!"...which is the point, as I do my best to remind her...

People who understand say nice things like "Wow, it's coming along great!" and other stuff like that. They ask if they can touch it and my friends sometimes pull my dreads when coming from behind.

    So it's not so bad.

hahahahaha...side show bob is pretty popular, that's for sure^^. i've had mine for about 3 months now...and other than some negative LOOKS, i get real positive comments. except one time(i should have expected this^^) in Church..lol. a group of older ladies were talking, i walked past them and smiled and noded and was as nice as could be, and in the middle of their conversation one of them was so surprised at my hair that she literally squeeled "oh my!"....twas interesting..lolol
