I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but it's pure bull, and this is pure bull shit. This goddamn catholic school I go to has all these dumb rules that make no sense and pretty much try to keep kids from being themselves. A rule about hair, for instance. My classes end in five days, and now they start botherinng me and my friends about our hair. I'm servning detentions for it. I'm actually beiing punished for my own hair. Bull shit, I'd say. They've botherd us before, and we cut it, cause it was a long way to go before school got out, but now, there was osmehting like 7 days left to school and they started bothering us. So, me and one of my friends just decided to fuck it. We weren't cutting our hair being so close to summer. So now every third day, we have a detention. I figure I'll do as Thoreau did, though, and simply take the punishment for an unjust rule. The school, this way, does not get its way. Or does it? Because as I'm sitting in detention, although my hair may be about a centimeter below my collar, I'm doing all these useless little deeds. Washing boards, covering new books, sweeping, all of this shit, I do, simply because I choose to have a little bit of extra hair. I still won't cut it though, and I won't skip detentions. I'll be as respectful as possible, and even if they keep on punishing me for something as foolish as this, I'll know that I'm being the better person in this case. I love catholics...
There are many many many reasons that I would never even let my kids (if I had any) NEAR a catholic ANYTHING.....especially a priest!!lol
I forgot to say way to go with standing by your convictions in a peaceful way. But seriously, have you tried telling them what I said in the previous post?
If anything, you can consider what you're doing in detention simply a favor you're doing for them, hehe. I'm surprised that a Catholic school's punishment for long hair was less than that of my high school's. Some of the guys I dated in high school had hair that broke dress code and for every day they didn't cut it, they'd spend another day in "In School Suspension." Judging from the times I've walked into ISS, though, I guess I can hardly consider that a punishment, haha. All they did was get a day in a classroom (most of the time a portable building), doing independent study. They probably had more of an opportunity to learn there than in class. Anyway, I think it's really stupid to not let guys have long hair...long hair's pretty. And Jesus did have long hair! So that should automatically make it alright. Hehe.
Yeah, but thats exactly why I love catholics. They're so hypocritical. I actually find it funny to watch, even if I do have to suffer becasue of it. But, the thing is, about the jesus had long hair thing, is that the teacher who's giving me the punishment for it even knows the rule is wrong. She told me that the only reason I'm being punished is because "I signed a paper at the beginning of the year promising to follow the rules" I don't remember signing this at all. It kinda sounds like being born in a country and immediately being forced to pay taxes or something simply for bad birth location. I've been going there all my life, and any document they pull up against me could be from the fourth grade. I dont care though, cause I'm not going to cut it. I just hope they don't start saying that i can't participate in the graduation ceremonies if I don't cut it. It's very possible. But even then, I wouldn't give that big a shit, it's eightth graduation, whogives a flying shit larger than a dime?
inmy school if you shave your head then you get put in isolation because the head says it makes people think we're a school full of yobs or something
lol its all a load of shit isn't it, its not as if hair changes your personality, and even if people think your a yob because u have a skinhead then their very stereotypical. i think its great growing your hair, im growing mine, its at that shit stage at the moment and all my family are telling me to get it cut, and im like fuck off, lol....its only HAIR!
Vive la résistance, Chris! Civil disobedience is not dead after all. I say grow your hair twice as long just to spite them, and if you have to spend every weekday afternoon in detention, then you've accomplished your mission. *marches off singing La Marsaillaise*
I've got another detention tomorrow. Hopefully, it's the last for this school. If they give me anymore shit, it'll be over graduation..and I'll tell them to just give me my diploma... And yeah, my hairs at one of its bad stages too. But these stages usually pass within a week, so it's all good.
