hey, for english class i'm doing a research paper on marijuana, about the harmful effects and addictive nature. so i figured it would be good to have actual accounts. so if any of you have had a negative effect from weed, let me know. for example. if you were high and crashed your car, or you dropped out of school, etc. and if you're addicted and know, let me know too, you don't have to tell me your names or anything. help is apprecitated. thanks. p.s. please don't reply about how good weed is, how it should be legal, how there is medical benefits. i know this. my paper is on the harmful effects.
harmful effects..theres just 1..it can land you in jail other then that it simply is not addictive..although like anything enjoyable its possible to enjoy it too much
oh..& sometimes lighting a small bowl i catch my face on fire..but thats not exactly harmful since it does keep things trimmed
harmful effects: pleasure leads to desire desire leads to resource tradeoffs these resource tradeoffs can lead to lack of money, lack of other things, or lack of freedom if cought with the wrong resources or in the act of exchanging resources the negative effects on the whole however is indeed going to jail, getting a fine, having land reposessed, losing your job on account of a drug test, and the paranoia that these and other bad things will happen.
another harmful effect would be being raped by cellmates or stabbed while your trying to just stay alive & sane in a tinty cell cause ya smoked a joint oh & the additional harmful effect on society of violent criminals not going to jail because the cops were too bust arresting perfectly ok normal people who just enjoy a harmless herb
yeh and it takes money from everyone else to pay for the jailtime too so thats a bad thing that comes through marijuana
other then anxiety/panic attacks, and it can precipitate or exacerbate latent or existing mental disorders, remeber if you dont have a mental disorder pot will not give you one you must aready have one and even then it might not make it worse, maybe some problems from smoking which do not inclued cancer because weed does not give you cancer, thats pretty much it
It's not known if reefer gives you cancer or not, some researchers say that it contains carcinogens just like tobacco.
Weed does have tar. However, this is not the main cause of cancer (in cigarrettes); radioactive pesticides are. Namely the element polonium-(can't rmemeber isotope).
I tend to have a persistant cold, but I've always had a weak respiratory system. So that may or may not be from weed. And I have noticed a bit of a decline in the short term memory, but I do other drugs and I have major sleep problems. So again, that might not even be weed related. The only negative things that I know are weed related are getting arrested, and eating way too much fast food. Getting arrested is the only effect that really made any difference significant enough for me to consider quitting.
they exposed each 'carcinogenic' chemical in cigarettes independantly (so, each chemical by itself in a larger dose) to rats or somethin over a period of time and the only to make cancer was the radioactive components found in the phosphorous that is used to fertilise tobacco thats mined from the same places uranium is mined!!!!!?!?!?!?!?
the smoke does contain known carcinogens, however despite this there are plenty of other chemicals, some thought to HELP with cancer, and there has never been a confirmed report of cancer specifically linked to marijuana alone. the smoke is harsh, and despite what people here may say it isnt really GOOD for you. my throat is kinda itchy this morning and i have something of a cough. i do smoke a cigarette every few days though, and i recently have been trying to quit a more than a pack a day habit. that definitely may have something to do with it. however, that said, smoking ANYTHING is pretty bad for the respiratory system. i remember i smoked pot before i smoked cigarettes, and i DID get a smokers cough from pot before i was a tobacco user, even if it wasn't as bad as the cough i got from smoking both all the time. i'd say i'm addicted. withdrawal? no. cravings? not as such...but i need to smoke every day when possible, at least a little. of course its all in my head, but mental dependance can be every bit as powerful as a physical addiction at times. can i go a couple of days without pot if i must? sure i can, but if there is ANY way around it, i wont. even if it means hanging out with people i dont even like. it leads to a serious lack of money because i waste it on pot. i think it will be harder for me to quit smoking pot than it was to quit smoking cigarettes. first of all, i didnt enjoy cigarettes, but only smoked them because i was addicted and needed them. i WANTED to get rid of them passionately. on the other hand, while i have no physical NEED to smoke pot, i want to more than i would want to do most any other drug (or activity, period.) i see myself as probably a lifelong smoker unless some outside force influences my life otherwise. its a matter of willpower, really though, not the drug. people get "addicted" to gambling and the shopping network and all that b.s., you know.
i understand...well somepeople will fall upon it as an emotional crutch and use it to escape problems, therefor spriling down and making problems worse. also it can land u in jail :-( of course smoking it isnt exactly a+ good shit for your lungs
Say that masturbation is more addictive than pot. Also include that it is less harmful than alcohol, especially when eaten and not smoked. Go find medical reports backing this up and list them in a bibliography too, so they know theres proof and just dont think you're making it up.
I don't think smoking anything is too good for your lungs whether it be salvia, grass, tobacco, crack, opium, and even smoking too much cock can probably cause some sort of health risk down the road.
its also supposed to speed up your metabolism. i'm a fucking rail but i have the munchies a lot and i can really pack food away. i dont think it contributes to obesity unless you have a particularly slow metabolism and/or lazy mentality as it is. i know a shitload of people that get stoned and then go outside to play....swimming, hiking, frisbee golf, ultimate frisbee, hacky sack, etc.
