umm, most songs by jeff buckley and elliott smith, songs like 'for today i am a boy' by antony and the johnsons, well actually ANYTHING that antony sings, his voice is just so heartbreaking and haunting. also the score from requiem for a dream...wow, you don't even have to see the movie (although it helps) to have that music just haunt and haunt you.
"Cheap CD bin" CD - "Music of the Vampires" - excellent piano music, most haunting thing I've ever heard, real chills up your spine Score from "The Hunger" - also quite good piano, cool movie too Opening song from the original "Dune" movie, by Brian Eno "Call of Ktulu" - Metallica, great instrumental inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's work "Dissolve" - Switchblade Symphony "Midnight Sonata" - Beethoven

Non-Believer by Joel Plaskett kinda has that hauntingly beautiful feel to it...proboly cause i listened to it 40 times in a row one night parts of "Starless and Bible Black" by King Crimsopn are kinda haunting
What I like about King Crimson is the fact that their songs can sound wonderfully haunting and terribly beautiful at the same time.
Try Arcana, Lycia, Burzum and Skepticism, especially the first somng from the EP Ethere (or maybe Aethere).
"The Herald" from Comus' First Utterance album is very haunting IMHO, lots of Theremin, trembling violin strings and ghostly female vocals, absolutely beautiful though, love it or loath it the whole album is a masterpiece and a top 10 album for me personally
Somewhere Down the Crazy River, Robbie Robertson The Rain Song, Led Zep Riders on the Storm, The Doors Last Kiss, Pear Jam cover Strange Fruit, Billie Holliday Biko, Peter Gabriel Overjoyed, Stevie Wonder Visions of Johanna, Bob Dylan No. 9 Dream, John Lennon and a few that haunted me when I heard them live, while I was under the influence of various things. The Green Manalishi, Judas Priest Diary of a Madman, Ozzy Osbourne Godzilla, Blue Oyster Cult I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide, ZZ Top, (played way different than on the record, with the verse slowed down, and the chorus sped up, it messed me up.)
