I found out a few days ago that due to mold problems everyone in my dorm has to move out. This will last until the end of the semester. The university has provided places to live so that is all taken care of. 3 out of 4 places were some relatively nicer apartments. The fourth was a hotel room. Guess which one I was assigned...So now I have to spend a few months living in a hotel. I do not have a car, so I must wait on two different buses to make it to campus. I will be waking up like I have an 8 am class, but just so i can make it to campus for a 10 am. Not the end of the world, but pretty damn shitty and inconvenient. The only upside is that I may be able to smoke in the room if the roomate I have is cool with it. So that's my bitch fit of the week.

This is actually a pretty common thing, not for mold but for overbooking. University's never have the space for all the incoming students so they put some in hotels and wait for the drop outs in the second semester. College is a for profit business after all. They will always overbook.

I think you came out ahead. No RA in the Hotel right? In other words no one who is 19 and all of the sudden considered the mature adult who can supervise the 18 year olds haha.

the distance from campus sucks, but then every hotel room i've ever been in is much nicer than every dorm room i've ever been in.

when i lived in a dorm they overbooked too, but they just put the extra kids in each floor's lounge.
