TV piss's me off. Stupid bullshit to try n sell me worthless shit, propaganda like fox news. What's the deal with this shit? It's the most dangerous drug in America, Hell in the world probably. Quit watching the goddam thing. Do any-fuckin-thing, hell exercise, mug ol lady's, get a PhD. Maybe read, surf the net for shit that YOU choose to learn about. Get a variety of opinions and viewpoints. The last good thing I knew about on TV were Bugs Bunny Cartoon on Saturday morning and I can find those on Youtube...anyday/anytime.

    :ack2::puke:Fuck TV

Because there's numerous more intelligent shows on television on any given hour than there are threads in RT.

I have a television, but it is more of a glorified monitor. I just watch DVD's on it, the occasional video game.
I refuse to pay for cable, which is basically: I REFUSE TO PAY TO WATCH ADVERTISMENTS.
Advertisments used to pay for the programing....now...well
the sheep pay to watch commercials.

Find an escape from the mass mind rape please.

Doesn't the fact one's interactive and the other isn't count for something? I can watch a hundred documentaries on Charles Darwin or World War II (which are the only two relevant historical items of interest, apparently) and still not learn anything.

Meh, you can find decent stuff on T.V. if you want to.
Usually PBS is pretty good. They had a fantastic program for New Years, Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto #1 and then music from Act II of the Nutcracker, performed live by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

That alone justified me keeping my T.V. for another year.

Well, there's a time and place for everything... I don't particularly like T.V. either, but I watch it with my dad to spend some time with him, and actually I've found that there is some decent shit on there.

There's ads everywhere in the media. Newspaper, Radio, the street, even on the very webpage you are reading this on right now... You're paying for the internet btw. Youtube even has ads on videos with a certain number of views. So to not have a T.V. because of ads is as futile. You might as well remove yourself from all media including websites with ads, anything that is broadcast, printed, on the side of roads, on vehicles etc.

A recent gem we've found is the Ricky Gervais show. If you like British comedy/satire definitely check that shit out.

    Hello,

I too don't own a teev for decades now. If I visit friends, who have the teev running, I'm very annoyed. And interestingly my attention span watching teev has become very short. After five to ten minutes watching I feel bored and I have the urge to do something different. Have a look at Mr. Frankenstein's sub forum. There is an interesting thread about the teev watching tax we have to pay in the UK and Germany.

    Regards
    Gyro

I only like watching the movie channels, and maybe some Law and Order. hah.
pretty much never watch tv though, unless i'm bored on holidays at the parents place with the big plasma screen.

on a side note: I hate news presenters. they have no souls. they get off on people's pain and it makes me want to punch their face.

Interacting doesn't make something inherently more intelligent of brain stimulating, especially when it's typing over the internet.

Now if you type me a hypothesis on say the possible different history of WW2 had the Diepe raid been more successful than that would in fact be more brain stimulating.

We have TV but only the basic channels that come with our internet channels. We get the rest of whatever we want to watch off the internet.

I don't necessarily agree that tv is ALL propaganda and stupid shit...there are a lot of really good channels that are educational, now...I just can't afford a $200/month cable bill
