Okay so the first problem I'm having is t hat when I start up my computer, everything goes fine until the desktop loads. When the desktop begins loading, the taskbar at the bottom of the screen disappears and all the programs freeze up/nothing opens. It stays this way for a couple minutes, then continues loading and everything is fine til I restart again. wtf? Next issue I have is that there's a bunch of programs called "GoogleUpdater.exe" running and I don't know how to get rid of them. I tried deleting all my google stuff and that worked til I restarted my computer. Every so often they multiply as well. It would be nice to take care of this so I don't have to press ctrl+alt+del everytime I start my computer just so I can end those processes. I'm also wondering how I can get into the list of system processes that run? I know on Vista there's a list where it shows all the processes and you can change them to run automatically/manually/not run, etc. However, I haven't seen it for XP. Please if someone can help that would be great, thanks!
viruses and trojans. they can disguise themselves as legitimate processes. in winxp pro, you can use mcc to edit services.
to edit the services, you can use MMC, go to start > run > services.msc. although from the sound of it, your computer is almost not worth repairing; probably time to format. but you might try looking into http://www.malwarebytes.org/
I don't know if I'm missing something but I can't find this services editor anywhere. Also, you guys said it was MMC, MSC, and also MCC. I don't know which is correct, otherwise I could probably google it lol.
oops i meant mmc Microsoft Management Console better? also you could do Start > Run > type in "mmc" without quotes and press Enter. Then mmc will open and you add a snap-in for editing services.
try spybot might be able to catch a few of those bugs in your hard drive it also has the system process and startup lists built-in so you modify them http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html
