So I've decided it's time to get healthy. Mentally, physically and spiritually. Things in my life are pretty out of control right now and I feel like if I get a better sense of my self, I'll gain a better understanding to what's going on around me. I feel like I am a pretty healthy person already, but I'm no where near where I could be if I tried a little harder.

I'm clearing my mind but stopping smoking marijuana, alcohol, caffeine, and any other substance that will fog up my noggin. Honestly, I feel like I'll have the biggest problem giving up caffeine... haha.

I'm healthy-ing up my bod by getting rid of my car (healthy-in' up the planet too!) and giving it to my brother (letting him borrow it is more like it) so I'm going to bike/ skateboard/ walk everywhere. Hitting the gym again (It's been fucking 6 months!!! ICCKK) and start workin' on my fitness. I'm also cutting out red meats, excessive carbs and too many refined sugars.

I'm healthy-ing up my soul by doing some much needed soul searching. I'm taking classes on Eastern philosophy and religion, attending yoga classes, meditating more, stressing out less, and taking more time to just read and think about what I want and what a believe.
I'm also going to be doing some volunteer work 6 hours a week to keep me more grounded.

I feel good, I just hope I can stick with it and push forward in every sense. It's hard living in a house where everyone smokes 5+ times a day and people come over to drink atleat 3 nights a week. You guys are probably reading this and thinkin' "LAMMMEEE!!!" but... yeah. I don't have any comeback to that, I am lame. Whatevs. :)

''smokes 5+ times a day'' imo thats pathetic.

but good luck on cleaning up, allthough i bet you will fail. im sorry its not personall just that many studies and me from other people ecperiecnes knows and shows that stopping all together very very rarely works. and your not stopping smoking or drinking, u have a bunch of things. its better to cut down on stuff gradually. also whats wrong with red mean?

Couldn't agree with you more. It's wasteful and excessive. Yeah, and stopping all together is usually unsucessful but I'm the type of person that if I cut down gradually, I'll just go back up gradually too, yanno? I have a pretty strong will power, so I'm not too worried.
Red meat? Hmmm, nothing wrong with it. I'm just trying to get reeealll fit, so I'm aiming toward chicken and fish instead of burgers and steaks.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, same with my friends lol, we all usually met up to drink + blaze like 3-4 times a week, usually only like a 20 bag and 6-10 beer each, but thats alot over time..

one of my buddies has been doin a detox program, the other has been gettin back into sports etc.

me? i'm just blazin and chillin hahah fuck..

but yea i'm finally out of weed, and i dont plan on buying any in the future for a while, I as well want to get healthy, i'm gonna start running/hitting the gym again and try to eat better, tommarow i'm probably gonna go and buy a bunch of suplements and vitamins just to get me on track, then from there i just have to keep my mind to it

i've been way too unhealthy for the last like 8 months, so it's really time to start feeling better i figure, produce better at school and work

in your cutting of red meat however, try to still have it once - 3 times a week if possible, eating it in moderation is alot better than not eating it at all, as your getting proteins and EFA's that u dont find in leaner meats

Same with me, Im taking a break from MJ after smoking 8-9 blunts the other night with friends and waking up to a horrible cough and tons of shit coming up. Had to slow down on cigarettes too because it just hurt worse when I smoked one. :( (sucks im craving them so bad right now, but I know its just gonna hurt)

I've been popping mucinex all weekend long, so I figure I should get healthy again.. atleast till I feel much better physically and mentally.

    Good luck :)

Hmm. I actually find smoking makes it easier to clear my mind. I've had many a revalation on marijuana, and my life has been richer because of it.

Of course I don't depend on it... but I still consider it something that instills clarity rather than blurs it.

    what's wrong with red meat?

Meat is murder. The more negative energy you put into your soul, the more weighed down, angry and negative you will be in the here and now. Secondly, the amount of negative energy you cause/consume will determine your progression as a soul in the after-life. My advice to you, stella, is if you really want to do soul searching, start by ending your consumption of animals. If marijuana clouds your mind, meat clouds your soul. Honestly, if you are consuming meat and you are unaware of the process behind it, you're just ignorant- and ignorance is a great unjustice to yourself. But if you can honestly watch this video: www.meat.org, and continue to eat meat then I will say no more. However, I urge you to watch this video, become a vegan and START your spiritual journey! GOOD LUCK!

    Web Design and E-Business mostly

haha get the fuck outa here with that shit, i dont even need to watch the video and i'll go eat raw ground beef right now if i had to.

bottom line is, if you dont have the money and resources, you are not a healthy vegan, period.

You actually think you can obtain the essential vitamins, nutrients, EFA's, and digestive tract catalysts through eating celery and lettuce?

yea yea, u can go on how you'll replace all you need with tofu and other things which offer the smallest of amount of nutrients possible, and call that healthy all day long, it's not.

if you cant afford proper suplements in the forms of vitamins, oils, meal replacements then you are not getting what your body needs and therefor are not healthy

but of course, the best athletes, olympic contenders, body builders, are all vegans though right? so that must explain some of it.

I hate continually getting into this argument, but there is no need to push that shit on people, ever notice how all meat-eaters never push what they belive onto others?

if being a vegan just was so healthy and so awsome, how come more people are not vegans?

how come it's not more publicised and promoted in the media?

how come it's not recomended by doctors as a healthy form of living?

you can back it up all day long, the fact is both lean and fatty meats have very esential things within them, they are esential to a healthy diet, and if u can get over the "cruelty" of killing an animal for food [since thats a very rare occurance *rolls eyes*] then you will be better for it in my opinion.

hahah somthing else i just thought of which i find kind of ironic, is how of the 4-5 different forums im on, all mostly of general topics, this "Hippy" forum is the only one i've ever come across where members try to promote veganism, afterall, hippies are always the most informed about everything right?

Read the book Thrive by Brendan Brazier. Also, my friend, it's simple to recieve the right amount of nutrients and proteins and whatever it is you're speaking of. Check out Veg Life vitamins- they cover all your vitamin needs for a mere 20 dollars. Also, I consume alot of tofu, seitan, beans etc. which provide me with more than enough protein. Last time I checked with my doctor and got blood work she actually told me that my numbers were ABOVE average. So clearly, DJ, you are just not properly informed. In the end, though, far more important than the health aspect of meat consumption is the MORAL aspect. Unless, of course, you're an athiest...then I guess this componant doesn't apply. But, meat is obtained via torture and pain and thereby the negative energy encapsulated in the meat is transmuted into your soul, weighing down your energy, and driving you farther and farther from nirvana, peace, awareness, christ consciousness- whatever it is.

Also, DJ, why is it all about YOU? You are so worried about your personal health that you refuse to recognize and stop the harm you are causing to innocent animals AND our earth. Honestly, stop thinking about YOUR body, YOUR health, YOUR pleasure and start thinking about YOUR impact. Stop being aggressive. Stop being negative. Start being kind, accepting and loving. And this ALL starts by stopping consuming meat. Go from there, expanding your love. But just how you can't start a hike while carrying a 70 pound rock, you simply can not start a spiritual journey with the weight of countless souls clinging to your spirit. SHED the sin, embrace the light, embrace kindness and start your journey in health and spirit!

yeah, lets stick to positive energy in this thread... i dont eat meat because of the ridiculously inhumane treatment of the animals in the process. i will admit though, i will eat some fish if i catch it myself or if i know it was caught locally.

still though, like ship of fools said, you can be a vegetarian or vegan and still get the right ammount of nutrients that your body needs.
