If you've ever played high school football you know what I'm talking about. Today was the first day of it, and its fucking brutal. It was 95 degrees out too which didn't help at all. I almost puked about 3 times, was so thirsty that I drank so much water my gut was full and still felt dehydrated, and after all the conditioning and play running we had to do speed lifting, which was fucking horrible. I'm so tired I don't even feel like smoking weed, and thats a first for me.
I've been doing soccer 2 a days for the past week which also suck, but not nearly as bad as football I'm sure
Soccer is a lot more endurance meaning a lot more running, but slower paced from my understanding. Also you guys are more fit than us lineman. Football is a lot of burst shit, and when I say a lot, its a whole fucking lot. We had to run 16 100s with 45 seconds rest to start off practice, it was horrible. We also have 2 a days starting Saturday I think.
Keep a wet bandanna tied around your neck and/or head. The evaporation will cool your blood. Of course drink lots of water. If you feel really full put some in your mouth and swirl it around and spit it out. Get it under your tongue. Remember your in charge of your body. If you start getting light-headed sit down. Watch the people around you-see if they are light-headed. By paying attention to the small things (like people around you) you are taking a measure of your own well-being. If you think you or someone around you needs to sit down and your getting harrasment from your coaches or teammates look them in the eye and say firmly (but don't be an asshole) "I need to sit down-give me a few minutes" and go and sit down. Don't argue any more-don't discuss it. Just do it. Lots of coaches aren't trained in how to spot this.
soccer coaches can be brutal...man i haven't played football, but i assure you i've been through some hellish soccer beat downs either way i empathize, stay strong man
Is your team good? I used to play but after the first year i quit in a second. Our team sucked sooo bad we won like one game outta about 15 games. All the sweating and workouts for one victory...
Last year we went fucking winless. That was because we were in a transition period from shitty old coach and half ass program to new coach having to deal with our old habits. Now that we've had a full year to train and condition I can honestly say we are expecting real big things. Comparing our team two years ago with the old coach to this year is like comparing apples and bananas. We actually have a sense of brotherhood now.
yea that's about right I'd say, we have to do alot of distance running, which can be just as bad as short sprints, trust me. and I HATE those practices where you never even play the sport :/ Every year we have to do this drill called the "Fun Run", which is ridiculously hard, and takes up the time of 2 practices. at least it's only once a year, though
what is all this stoners playing football. not how it was when i was in highschool, until senior year of course. amazing, the stoners are evolving.
what does being a "stoner" have to do with playing football? it not like smoking weed automatically makes you incapable of participating in athletic competition. lots of people on my high school team smoke, and when my dad was on the football team in the 60's almost everyone smoked as well.
i don't know, from my hippie ass point of view, the whole scene of hardcore competition rivalry football shit just seemed kind of stupid. working out and being active is great
