Karvin sounds very much like a western name. Are you Chinese? I'm curious - Does the government make it difficult to access all forms of internet chat? I would think something as open as this forum might be taboo. Sex, drugs, rock&roll, homosexuality - it's all here.

Yes, I am Chinese, basically our government does not forbid any internet chat, but most Chinese are not willing to use English or chat with foreigners. I just want to find some leisure and recreation forums, where all kinds of common subjects are talked about, I found this forum by google, is this forum mainly about what you said above?

No - not at all. There are forums included here for all interest. Those I mention are just controversial. There are forums on art, travel, books - most anything you have an interest in. Many perspectives on many topics. I hope you will stick around. :peace:

I am from the generation that lived through the cultural turmoil of the late 60's and early 70's. A hippy as we are sometimes called. Much of what I talk about on this forum are the memories from that era.

china has the largest population of english speaking people in the world.

if im not mistaken most have at least a working knowledge of the language..

says a lot for their education system in my opinion.. could you imagine teaching mandarin as a second language to all americans?? lol

although,a friend of mine does have a first grader whos school is actually teaching them mandarin..
    but i digress..

    welcome to the forums karvins

Yes, I seen a video where Mao's wife Jiang Qing called for it to be used as a means of execution for Liu Shaoqi.

Is this still being used as a means of punishment for murdering someones own family or for treason against the Chinese Totalitarian like Government?

    Warning somewhat graphic.

Really? :DI'm very glad to hear that, but anyhow, i cannot use English in a very flexible way. I studied English since junior middle school, so do other students in China, and I am relatively good at it compared to my classmates. Actually, although we studied English early, but most of us do not want to speak English after class, and many dare not to say English before others, oral English is more or less neglected in Chinese education, students have to learn English for written exams. This has caused many complaints among both students and educationists. Many of them do not think it is necessary for each student to learn English, especially for so long a period.

Thanks. It is true that we Chinese students do not have a happy educational experience, we have to learn too much things, learning occupies most of our school time, but these things do not seem to be useful after we leave schools and work.

Haha, well, I can assure you that it had not been used for a very long time, it belongs to feodal period, and I think almost every ancient nation has such kinds of excruciations, but i have to admit that China had a number of them. But today Chinese government is surely not that unnatural, although our political system is different from yours, but we are all living in such a modern and civilized world, only abnormal countries like North Korea could do that kind of things.

What would be the penalty for hitting Kim Jong-il with a shoe in a public setting?

    Just out of curiosity...
