March 20th marks the third year since the US invaded Iraq. We are planning a week of protest/action at our school in VT. We are going to put a flag or something for each soldier that has died along the road leading to the school. We are going to distribute flyers/pamplets opposing the war during school. Also, we are going to wear t-shirts/armbands to oppose the war. Any ideas for what would work well to place along the road or what to wear.
The flags themselves would be eye-catching, if they're large enough. I remember driving past a demonstration once, and what really caught my eye was the demonstrators' use of posterboard--large, imposing cryptic messages, as simple as "WHY?" and "HOW LONG?" Big yellow bird suits helped too. Any kind of uniform...even just a hat or, like you said, a conspicuous (sp?) armband...besides that, I'm not sure. A gimmick of some sort is almost always neccessary...hahah.
