Im starting to get back into making hemp jewelry and i was curious if any1 new of some cool knots to do. I know the basic ones; half, square, alternating, and i think its called the friendship knot. Or any other ideas how to spice up my pieces.
http://www.free-macrame-patterns.com/ this website is great, it was my bible when I was just starting out.
Fishermen in the Shetland Islands of Scotland used to buy knotted strings from old women. These strings were believed to have the magical power to control the winds. The more Knots a sailor untied, the stronger the winds would blow for him.
no problem, and if you need help I have mastered all the knots on it so I can help you step by step if needed
Cool. I've been doing hemp forever but micro macrame kicks my butt so I might just take you up on that. Right now I think I'm going to incorporate some of those clasp and finishing techniques into my work, they look a damn sight better than overhand knots and tie ons.
a couple of ideas on this site, its not as cool as the macrame site though. www.elainecraft.com/instructions
