Here we go, unresponsable people who dont know what they are doing and researching before they do. Full story http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2..._dead_drug.php
broken link. *edit* fucking what? What the fuck did they DO? to OD like that on 2c-e, wouldn't you have to consume many times a normal "high" dose? Stupid hurts. I don't like when people get hurt by their own stupid, but I REALLY don't like when I get hut by other peoples stupid. I'm guessing this particular stupid involved cokeheads in attendence expecting immediate effects, and telling everyone it was bunk shit and that they needed to snort more. Do we know for fact it's 2c-e, and that's not just what some kid said because he knows it's legal? *edit* The comments on the article are refreshing, at least the fact that there's some debate and knowledge there. They have picture captions that say that 2c-i was the drug, and then the whole thing's about 2c-e. Seems like shitty reporting by people who don't know what the fuck is up, hopefully lab results show the kids did something else. But, if what one of the comments suggested is true, that the kid who died was on a MAOI and the other kids had bad trips because of it's effects on him, we'll never know, once you're brought in on psychedelics they can sedate you as long as they want, say they're monitoring you because you're uncurably nuts, and then say whatever they want about the drug.
Some agency supposedly confirmed it was 2ce, that's about the extent of info I got. Some supposedly mixed it with booze and snorted it. Snorting many drugs (2ce included) increases potency quite a bit.
But still, they must have dosed high, and redosed, for those effects... IMO. either way, a "public enemy" chemical going a decade before even having a death ATTRIBUTED to it shows the fallacy of the war on drugs, that's safe compared to almost ANY drug approved by the FDA. This appears to leave 2c-e considerably safer than aspirin.
I doubt it will get the press that 'bath salts' are getting but who knows it may lead to legislation in the state. Because its an analog there is a possibility of making it (or both) scheduled federally but I guess we'll see. 2cb is schedule 1 so as ideal and correct as 'the safer than aspirin' mentality is, I doubt it will be viewed as such by legislators.
BLAINE, Minn. – Eleven teenagers and young adults were hospitalized Thursday and one of them died after apparently overdosing on an unregulated hallucinogenic drug while celebrating spring break at a house party in the Minneapolis suburbs, authorities said. The drug, which is called 2C-E and is also known as "Europa," has no medical use and was bought legally over the Internet for the party in Blaine, said Paul Sommer, a commander in the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. Officers called to the home because of a reported overdose found several people already sickened when they arrived shortly after midnight. Others who fled the house were later found to be suffering the effects of an overdose, investigators said. Eleven people ranging in age from 16 to 21 were taken to area hospitals. A 19-year-old man from Coon Rapids died, and two others were in critical condition late Thursday afternoon. Police did not identify those sickened. The boy who hosted the party was apparently among them. The house where the party was held is a beige, two-story home, one of many like it in this modest suburb north of Minneapolis. A pair of trucks stood in the driveway late Thursday, but a tall fence with a "Beware of Wife" sign on it made it difficult to see much else. Although rare, there have been several U.S. deaths from drugs similar to 2C-E since 2000. Carol Falkowski, a drug abuse strategy officer with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, said the drugs were more popular in the Minneapolis area about 10 years ago, when raves were more popular. Falkowski said 2C-E is chemically similar to 2C-B, which is regulated as a controlled substance and therefore would not be legal to buy online. A federal law says "cousin drugs" similar to 2C-B can be considered illegal if they're intended for consumption, but does not specifically regulate all similar incarnations that have surfaced over the years, such as 2C-I and 2C-T-7. "They're all just a molecule away from each other," Falkowski said. None of the drugs are approved for human use and they have been known to produce adverse reactions, especially when combined with prescription drugs, particularly antidepressants, Falkowski said. "It's really a sad situation where so many people are involved in using a drug that can have such harmful effects," Falkowski said. The federal Drug Enforcement Agency has recorded at least two deaths from 2C-T-7, including one in Oklahoma in April 2000 and one in Washington in 2001 of a person who used it with Ecstasy. Regulating designer drugs is difficult because the makers can tweak the formulas so easily. A federal ban on the sale of five chemicals used in herbal blends to make synthetic marijuana took effect last month. Fake pot, sold in drug paraphernalia shops and on the Internet, has been marketed under various brands including Spice, K2, Blaze and Red X Dawn. Versions using slightly different chemicals remain available. Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110318...uX2hlYWRsaW5lX2xpc3QEc2xrA292ZXJkb3NlbGVhdg--
Edit: deleted innapropiate comment. Yeah it's sad to see people take no responsibility towards themselves. But this incident pinpoints exactly what's wrong with the current drug culture and especially the whole RC scene. People treating hardcore psychedelic drugs like fucking candy.
"Carol Falkowski, a drug abuse strategy officer with the Minnesota Department of Human Services" but she can't explain that they are different by the placement of an atom, not a molecule away from each other? Water and plutonium are "just a molecule" away from each other. Jeez. And ya, one death and we're on the way to scheduling. Let's hope this one stays under the national radar.
Damn, this sucks....I wonder how much they took or if it was the only thing they took. My friend has done 75mg orally all at once, and although he was FUCKED UP, he was fine physically.
c'mon, guys, someone fucking DIED here! it sucks that it might bring some heat to the RC scene, but it still sucks, whether he was being irresponsible or not. we've all been irresponsible to some extent (some of the first people to EVER take 60 mg of 2ce are probably on this board), but we wouldn't wish each other dead. have some compassion. hard to believe that some of you guys have learned anything from tripping. :banghead: ... it's only easy because they are infinitely smarter than you, officer Falkowski. THANK YOU!!!!!
I wonder if two got sick and the rest were just tripping and freaking out because their trip mates were getting sick and in physical distress. I also wonder if there was some contamination like the bromo dragonfly mixup that killed at least the source from Denmark (or something). Both would be some really useful information for everyone who uses these chemicals. The latter is extremely important. If anyone has new 2CE, that was purchased in the last couple months, I'd say hold onto it until more info is available. (When I say hold onto it, I mean don't take it.) There is definitely a possibility that these kids did everything correctly (except maybe do some very small test doses). It may be that there was some kind of contamination or mixup. This is extremely sad. The survivors will likely be scarred for life. Not a fun thing to experience straight, but while tripping it must be much worse.
That was sort of my thought. Unless these kids did massive amounts, its odd that so many got 'sick'. Did the one that died have contributing factors or do a shit ton? Was being 'sick' just way upset stomachs? And was there something else involved besides 2C-E ? I doubt the real circumstances will get as much coverage. And ya, it sucks that someone died. Regardless of whether they were doing something stupid, its always bad when someone died. They were someones brother, son or boyfriend. Truly sad.

Of course we've all done stupid things. CALCULATED stupid things. Everyone does them. If I died in this situation my greatest regret would be how my stupid will hurt others and their originally "inalienable" rights. The whole "someone DIED, it's not a game" thing makes people who want to take drugs themselves LOOK selfish and cold, until you think about the facts. Driving a car is pretty fuckin' dangerous. people DIE every day in cars, let's ban these things! People DIE from water toxicity every year! Let's BAN it! People DIE from eating pufferfish, and that's not even as fun as a drug, but they still do it! let's BAN it! Let's BAN it all, because I'm just smarter than you all and as such, may decide what you do to your neurotransmitters! You can't save people from themselves by force, and all trying to do so results in is punishing hundreds of thousands of legitimate users. This whole thing is because of prohibition, if they properly understood what it was and what it did, this would not have happened. But it's hard to find these things out, without spending years in internet backwaters learning what books and websites to check. I would not feel the least bit uncomfortable trying 2c-e, and have never done it. I do plan to, and I'm quite sure that when I do I will be just fine. As far as the rest of the world will know, it will be just like the plethora of other psychedelics I've taken, I'll make some funny expressions for a while and that's it. Prohibition is the difference between drugs making you make funny expressions, and drugs making you die in an ICU.
I disagree with you to an extent Roorshack. In the scope of things this is a new chemical and its not strictly prohibited either. This is more to do with teenagers being teenagers, there's plenty of info out there about it. This incident is not going to make me feel 2ce is a serious risk or probably not even adjust my dosages with it, but it has made me aware that these chemicals are still relatively new to a general public and there should perhaps be some precautions taken with them and respect shown as powerful psychoactives.
My friend actually knew the kid that died from it and she told me that they were thinking it was 2c-B so I'm guessing they did dose a bit higher and she also they did snort it. And she said the kid was really big into drugs and around here those types of kids are typically stupid with what they do, so I wouldnt be surprised if they all just snorted big lines of it with out really measuring it and i guess the guy who sold it to them just got arrested for 3rd degree murder
Here's some more info: http://abcnewspapers.com/2011/03/18/blaine-drug-overdose-case-remains-under-investigation-2/ http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2011/03/2c-e_trevor_robinson_dead_mass_overdose_blaine.php The first article says they were doing lines like cocaine. Doesn't sound like they were measuring it, but who knows exactly what these news reports mean. The second one is a little info about the kid. Yeah....if they could sell these in gel caps already weighed out, people would be much much safer. People wouldn't have to eyeball or use cheap inaccurate milligram scales. I don't think having empathy for these poor kids necessarily means that anyone if for prohibition or thinks that people who do RCs are cold and selfish. I do think that blaming the kids for causing prohibition by dying may be a little cold, though. It's not their fault that uninformed people will over react in the wrong way because of their miscalculations. I still find it all kind of suspicious. No one has ever had similar problems from 2ce that we know of.... Why would they get so much more than they needed. It seems like you'd need well over 100mg to kill yourself, but maybe not. The sad thing is the story will die down, and we'll never hear what really happened. I hope they do a very good tox screen and really evaluate the 2ce samples they get....if they really want to help, they should do that and make that the big story.
