Well i'm feeling pretty determined today. I'm 6ft 1"-2", male and 217lbs. I've decided that i'm ditching the shitty foods, bring on the fruit and salads. HOWEVERRRRR, tommorow is friday, every friday i go to my friends house, his mum always puts out loads of salad which is good but i always end up feasting on the other foods, pizza etc (she makes the BEST PIZZA!!) anyway, i'm going to try and just eat healthily and run around a lot more than normal! I have my weight loss buddy: meepmeep5000 so wish us luck!! Here's where my weight chart thing will go 02/06/05 - 217 09/06/05 - 16/06/05 - 23/06/05 - 30/06/05 -
You gotta do more than diet man, get your ass to the gym and lift some weights and walk or swim some unitl you are down to liek 180m then start running so you won't kill your joints.
First of all, from what you describe, granted I don't know your body composition, you seem to be fairly close to a healthy weight range. Sure if you want to lose some fat and gain muscle that is completely understandable. I have never met someone myself included who couldn't lose a few pounds of fat and gain some muscle. If you are focusing more on diet right now, what I would suggest for Friday night pizza night is let that be your night to take a break from everything else. I'm not saying eat a whole damn pizza or stuff yourself silly, but I'm saying don't worry about it that night. Permit yourself a night off. Eat as much salad as you can at first, then try to limit yourself to like 2 or 3 slices of pizza. It really isn't as bad as you think it is. And you describe it as if she makes it home made or something. If that is the case, it is probably better for you than Dominos or some slop like that. I make home made pizza with wheat dough, low fat cheese, and tons of veggies. It is so good. I don't like tomato sauce cause it gives me heartburn, but if my boyfriend wants it on there then I just puree some fresh tomatoes and basil and garlic and we are good to go. Healthy pizza. Try it out sometime. If you can't find wheat dough around you, it is easy to make with wheat flour which most grocery stores carry. You can make it and freeze it. Ok ok I know I am way off track and I doubt you will do all of that. But like a post above said you need to couple your eating habits with exercise on a daily basis. Even if it is just taking the dog for a walk or what have you. Though it looks like you know that cause you said you have a work out buddy. So good job on what you have started on and don't worry about a few slices of pizza once a week. As long as the rest of the week you are eating a healthy well balanced diet, it shouldn't be of concern. Take Care, Jen
No, it is not a good thing to be ashamed of one's body, and I would never tell anyone to be. However, there comes a time in life when some people realize that they would like to stick around for a while and they want to be healthy. Some people just decide that they would like to treat their body better. With regards to weight specifically being overweight has a list of health risks associated with it that if one lost only 10% of thier body weight their chance of early death from these health problems drops dramitically. Then there is the fact that buy building strong healthy muscles you actually strengthen your bones as well so as you age you will be less likely to have complications associated with old age. I am not saying that anyone should lose weight based on looks, that is why I teach people about a healthy well balanced lifestyle including mind, body and spirit. Because if you are just losing weight to fit in with people or to go to the beach in a bikini or what have you, it really isn't the right reason and for the most part I have found it to be a waste of everyone's time because the person rarely does what you tell them to do anyway. Take care of yourself. You are very wise for your age. Jen
Hey, just thought i'd update you all, i've not been able to get to my computer in a while. Well, my weight was the same for about a month after i made the original post but over the last 2/3 weeks i've started eating a lot less than i used to (but still eating enough to live!) and excercising quite a bit more and i feel great for it, i've lost so far 20lbs, woo. Hah it's not coming off my belly (that's where i'd like to loose the fat) but mainly off my legs, i've been told to get some tighter jeans about 50 times this week so.. yeah... Time to start doing some sit-ups i suppose! hah. cheers for all your help everybody, especially Bear
congrats, seru!! sorry I wasn't a better weight loss buddy... I left for europe soon after we decided to be buddies. I am back home now after 6 weeks in england, 3 pounds heavier and still wanting to lose 15-20 lbs.
Seru, Great Job! You are making great progress! Keep up the good work. What are you doing for exercise? You can work your abs now if you want, but it probably won't make you "lose weight" in your belly. It will however make your abs tighter which will help you with balance and posture and you will appear to have lost weight in your tummy just by standing up taller and having a tighter midsection. You still have to burn the fat off through cardiovascular exercise. If you aren't doing so, I suggest incorporating some strength training in with your routine at this point. A very simple upper body lower body split will suffice. Day 1 Work your Chest, shoulders, tris, bis with 2 exercises for each muscle group (unless you have already been doing this for a while, then you can do 3 or 4 per muscle group) Day 2 rest Day 3 Cardio Day 4 Lower Body workout- Work Back, Quads, Hams, calfs. again do 2 exercises per muscle group Day 5 rest Day 6 cardio Day 7 Rest I would work your abs on either your rest days or your cardio days (after the cardio workout). Your abs are just like any other muscle they need rest too, so don't over do it no matter what uninformed people might tell you. You should not be working any muscle group every day. Check the top of the forum for the exercises I have already posted and I promise I will gather some more tonight. Take care and if you have any specific questions, just let me know I'm happy to help.
